Question about Ovens

1 Answer

I removed the oven door to install a new false bottom in the oven. Now I am concerned about reinstalling the door. The u-channel clips that engages the oven structure seem to be engaged into the oven door. I don't want to force them out. How should I proceed? Thanks, Jim

To remove the door, open the door to the broil position. Don't use the handle to remove the door, grab hold of the door itself. Lift slightly and with your hands pull out on the door...the lifting gets the hinges out of the keepers and pulling out will dislodge the door hinges from there holders. This picture should help you out. Manual clean doors are easier to remove than self clean doors because sometimes a metal clip is added to the hold the hinge in place on the self clean doors. The screw and bracket have to be removed to remove the door and hinges. The metal clip bracket has to be reinstalled once the door is put back on. To reinstall the common hinge just do the opposite, start the hinge blade in the receiver, lift slightly on the door and with your knees push the door and hinges back into place.
The other type of hinge,
one common problem is the hinge will sometimes "pop" forward against the range instead of staying still while you reinstall the door onto the hinges. If this happens, use a screw driver at the marked spot to help hold the hinge open so you can start the door onto the hinge, them remove the screwdriver to finish installing the door.

Putting door back on but hinge wont release to put back on

Hi Susan, this is AP! Thank you for your post.

I understand you are having trouble putting the door back on your Frigidaire wall oven. Without knowing exactly how you removed the door I cannot say with certainty how to reattach the door. However, when removing the door did you pull up the lock located on both hinge supports and engage it in the hinge lever hooks? You might have had to apply a little downward pressure on the door to pull the locks fully over the hinge lever hooks. Then grab the door by the sides and pull the bottom of the door up and toward you to disengage the hinge supports. If so, then to reattached the door grab the door by the sides; place the hinge supports in the hinge slots. Open the door to the fully opened position. Disengage the lock from the hinge lever hooks on both sides. Make sure the hinge supports are fully engaged before unlocking the hinge levers. Then close the oven door. There are instructions with images to remove and replace the oven door in the owner's manual. I hope this information proves helpful for you.

Remove oven door from hinges

the door is removed with the hinges in place. with the door open, lock the hinge sections together with the little clips on lowest hinge section. When locked, lift up on the door (not the handle) sides, swinging it up until it can be pulled out. Install in reverse order.

Taking apart a NEFF oven door

The inner door glass is held on by two clips at the bottom (hinge side) and two slides near the handle side. Remove the door from the oven and lie it the worktop flat with the hinges uppermost. Near the hinges you will see the glass is angles leaving a triangle of metal frame either side near the hinges.Rest the outside of your hand on the metal for purchase and then pull on the glass along the bottom edge (reasonable tug required) this will disengage the bottom clips and then slide the glass down about an inch to remove completely.

Smeg F170-5 door joint broken

The door is removed by rotating, on both sides of the door, a clip on the lower of the two struts that connect the door. The clip rotates up and then engages a hook on the upper clip so that the two are held together by the spring mechanism to allow the struts to be lifted out when the door is in a 45° angled position. With the door off there are three screws on the bottom of the inside that allow the inside window assembly to slide off, allowing the parts to be replaced.

Replace inner oven door glass on kitchenaid wall oven

To replace the door glass do the following:

0 Check if there is a hinge stop bracket located at the hinge point of entry on the oven, in that case remove it.
1 remove the oven door by pulling it up and removing from the the hinges. If glass is broken , then secure glass with tape. Have a table with a cloth on top ready to lay the door.
2 Remove the outer screws , starting from lower side of the panel.
3Removethe inner screws. Keep all set of screws ordered, and take note of theorder you remove them. You will follow reverse order in reassembly.
4 the frame will be free now,
5 Remove the external glass panel and leave it in a safe place.
6 Replace the inner glass.
7 Clean outer glass and metal door, re-assemble it and mount it back

I also report testimonials for your model:

"
removed the door from the oven by releasing clips attached to the door hinge -- very nicely engineered. Removed about 6 philips head screws to allow the door assembly to be taken apart for access to the glass. Lifted out the broken glass, cleaned the inside of the door, installed the new glass, reassembled the door (a two minute project), and reattached the door to the oven. Cleaning the inside of the door"

"
I removed the oven door by lifting it off with the hinges. Disassembled the door parts one at time making sure I remember where I removed the screws until I am able to get to the broken glass. The most difficult part is making sure that the insulation strip & the gasket stayed in place after I replaced the broken glass & doing the reverse process of installing the parts together. Relatively easy process as long as you remember where the parts go. When in doubt, I had to refer to the pictorial of the disassembled door shown on your website. "

Thermador oven (c301u) door hinges weak, how to install new hinge

This is a relatively easy fix however you will need to remove the door and it is heavy!

Start by opening the door completely and engage the small "locks" that are at the base of the hinge. This will ensure that the spring loaded hinges do not "spring open" when you remove the door. You then will need to remove the hinges from the door via a series of phillips head screws that hold the hinge assembly in place. The new hinges must be "preloaded" into the Open position using a vise or some means of holding the hinge in place while you use a small section of pipe to provide leverage needed to open the hinge so that the Locks can be engaged.

Once the new hinges are "pre-loaded" and the locks are engaged, you can reverse the procedure to re-install the hinges into the door and re-install the door.

Good luck!!

The hinges are commercially avaialble from Applianceparts.com

Fixing a door

I took other hinge apart.
Removed front glass by removing handle -bar.
Removed upper screws of spring on both sides. loosened two bottom screws of spring assembly.
Removed control panel assembly by taking out 5 screws.
Started with one side hinge first.
Inserted larger arm of lever first then inserted small lever, pressed with small screwdriver to engage a little slot {bottom side} of smaller lever to little stud inside.
With the same screwdriver engaged a little hinge to the notch of larger arm..
Did the same thing for other hinge.
Put the upper screws back,
Tightened bottom screws back.
Put the front glass and handle-bar back.
Put control panel assembly back.
Now it is ready to go.
Door is Fixed.

Remove Outer Glass Of Oven Door

On my Zanussi ZDF 866 it goes like this:-

Rest the door with its top edge on your work surface. Once the bottom two screws are removed, pull the outer glass away from the bottom edge of the door just enough so that the brackets fixed to the outer glass (into which those two screws went) clear the bottom edge of the door. Then pull the outer glass up towards you parallel to the door (there are now screws hoplding the top edge on this model).

It may need one side to be pulled and then the other to release it from the metal slot at the bottom.

I would recommend great care with this given that a) your door may be different, b) it could be held more tightly and c) you are dealing with glass. Recommend taking all precautions including eye protection and suitable gloves. Proceed slowly and carefully (this did not need much force on my door). If you're not sure at any stage, choose discretion and either give up or pay someone to do the job to avoid paying for a new glass or hurting yourself.
Hope this may help someone.
