Try going into Control Panel, then get to the Hardware folder, pick Mouse, and go to Driver, and update the driver- it could be corrupt.
It sounds like a corrupt driver, and that's where we should start. Of course, the mouse could be bad. I see you have a mac, and I've never had one of those, but get to the folder that has your mouse and reinstall the driver, if you have that option. Hope this helps.
