I have changed to a wep key(password). That is what caused the reset problem. Reset is not the reset button just unplug for a few seconds. May call that a reboot and not a reset.

Change to WPA key and secure the router with a solid password.

If that doesn't help, what type of issues do you have that make you reset?

Once encryption is enabled on a wireless connection the settings are crucial.
Entering the WEP key is only part of the process on your PC.

Did you set the router to 64bit WEP?
If so you need to take note of other settings as well. Firstly are you using an OPEN or SHARED key? Secondly are you using key number 1,2,3 or 4.

Log into the router and verify the settings on your computer net settings match exactly.

I have router d link dir-524 i have change wep key then my internet have not connected what i do??

You should delete the old wifi history that was saved. From your device go to settings then wireless then delete or forget the wifi name... then search for wifi again and it will ask you now to enter the new WEP key. That should do it

If I reset my d-link router will my household

If you set up your again with exactly as it was before the reset you (same WEP key, wireless network name) then your computers should just reconnect. If you're having to reset the WEP key, the worst that will happen is that you'll get a prompt to put in the new password the next time your computers try to connect to the wireless.

NB - performing a reset on your router will mean you have to set the thing up from from scratch so make sure you have your internet username and password to hand (if it's ADSL) and that you know what your old wireless network settings are before proceeding.

I forgot my WEP password

Do not reset the router. If you reset the router you will loose all the other settings of the router.
The WEP key is the password to connect to the wireless network.
that is set up on the router.
You will find the WEP key if you open the set up interface of the router.

Wireless Connection Not Identified Aftre Password Was Set Up

There are a lot of reasons this could happen but I'll give you what I had to do. 1) Go back into your router and change the Wireless channel from 6 to 10. 2) make sure you have entered the correct WEP key in your network setting for the wireless adapter. The easiest way is to remove teh wireless network from your computer and let the computer find the network and prompt you for the wep key. the wep key is not the password you use to log into your router. The wep keys must be entered on all the wirelss machines in order for this to work.

Finding a Wep/Wpa Key

You need to open the router's admin page by opening your Internet Explorer. On the address bar type it will prompt you for username and password. By default the username is admin and the password is blank (no password). You can see the WEP or WPA key on the WIRELESS tab. Goodluck!

Wireless Cood

You can put in your wireless code by connecting to the DI-524 using the LAN cable. Open you web browser (Internet Explorer) on your computer, and type in the address This should take you to the sign on screen for your DI-524. user ID will be "admin" and password is blank unless you have changed it. Go to the "Wireless" button on the left. There you can specify the type of wireless security you want and the secret code. The most simple security is WEP, with 64bit WEP encryption, and "Open System" authentication. Enter a 10 digit numeric code in "Key 1". You don't need to fill our the other keys. NOTE the number down for future reference.

Cant connect

Hi purplegarion,

hook up the router per instruction in manual and your particular internet connection.  With the Di524 powered up, use the end of a paperclip to depress the reset button located in a little hole beside the power connection.   open internet explorer and type in and press enter.  The password is admin. once th screen appears, click on Wizard.  Follow the wizards directions carefully.

For simplicity of security click on the wireless button while in the  wireless screen.  Set radio to on.  Enter a SSID like purplegarion. Set to open system.  Set Security to WEP.  Wep to HEX.  64bit.  Enter into Key one a 10 digit number you can remember like 1234567890.  Click apply.  Change your password to a personal password other than ADMIN.

Any device that attaches will need to enter the WEP 64 Bit hex Security key 1234567890, or whatever 10 digit number you put in the router.

Internet connection will require powering down you modem, and the DI-524 router.  power up the modem first and let it go through the start up, then power up thte DI 524.  you may need to make sure your DHCP is set to Automatically assign an IP address.
