Question about Dell Latitude D830 Notebook

My computer won't start normally and I push f8 and click enter on the safe mode but then it goes to a black screen with typing all over it, how can I fix that?

The black screen is listing the drivers that windows loads. This is normal in safe mode. If the listing gets stuck on the last line and seems to freeze, you have a corrupt driver/system that needs repaired.
You can do a system repair if you have the proper disk. Dell sometimes provided that disk. This site provides details on how to do a system repair. You'll need a DELL OEM OS disk, not just any old CD from a friend.

For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator

It will prompt you to enter the new password.
Enter the new password and the password is changed

Type the word "run" in the window that appears.
A second pop-up window will appear; type in the letters "cmd," then select "OK."
This will bring up the black DOS command screen.
Type next to the administrator account the following command: net(space)user(space) the username(i.e. johnadams) *. After typing this command, hit "ENTER" on your keyboard.
Type in a new password in the command screen prompt that ask you to type a password. Type the new password again once you are asked to confirm.
Type the word "Exit." This will bring you back to your login screen.
Enter the new password that you selected.

I had to launch start up repair and the battery died half way through... The laptop now says "Computer build error. File exception failed to find c:/ (etc)" and it won't turn on, just...


Step 1:

If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)

Select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive You should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer also Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue and then replace the file. Type the following command and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Need help please and thank you


For that you need to fix error on harddrive.
For that You can solve this errors with following 2 methods.
(1)When you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
Then if you are able to enter in safe mode then uninstall driver or software which you installed recently and face this error.
(2)If you are not able to enter in safe mode Then you need to fix error on hard drive.For that you need windows disk or recovery disk.
Boot your computer with that disk
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set frist boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
Then save settings and exit bios.
Insert windows disk in cd /dvd rom.
Then it boot with that disk.Then you get this message "Press any key to boot from cd.."
Then press any key.
Then follow the procedure then enter in recovery console mode then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
Then type "y"
Then it fix error on hard drive.
Then check if again you are not able to enter in windows then boot again and this time choose "R" option for repair previous windows " then it repairs old windows then it loads again old windows.

COMPUTER GOES TO COPYRIGHT PAGE NOT WINDOWS


Push F8 before the splash screen loads - start pushing it the moment you start your computer. You should get a screen that allows you to start in safe mode. Once you've started in safe mode, try rebooting and see if you computer comes up normally.

when you start the pc tap on the f8 key and choose safe mode from the menu then hit enter twicw, if your pc will start up in safe mode, then you can click start, then type MSCONFIG in the search box and hit enter ( or click start,all programs,accessories,Run, then type msconfig and hit enter) if you click on the startup tab, you can see everything thats checked is starting with windows, you ca uncheck all of these, and by repeating the steps above, check them back one or two a time, until you find the offending program. Google pacs-portal.com for an excellent site that will tell you what all the startup entries are and if you need them
