Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

I have an emachine that is 1.5 years old. The problem is that it locked up/froze and was not able to turn off so I turned off the power strip. Now I cannot get the computer to start, it sounds like the fans start up for about five seconds then the system shuts down. Anybody have any ideas?

Try to disconnect the cables connected to the mother board from your power supply then put it back in, then remove the CMOS battery and put it back in then try to turn the computer on..If it's still the same this means you need to purchase a new power supply.

Printer locked on printing

Try changing your firewall, it worked for me. I got my 926 a year ago with my Dell and had no problems until I replaced my expired Norton w/a freebe that was very aggessive then the problems started. Would not comunicate sometiimes and when it did it printed once than froze. Would not delete printed doc or print the next. I remembered that McAfee made my old Emachine freeze or crash. Put Norton back on and no more problems. Hope this helps you.

My hp desktop computer will not turn on

If you cant see or heard any boot up sounds, fans and especially if you dont see any power or green led lights at all ;

If your power cord is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, power cycle your strip or surge protector by turning off and on.

If power outlet has a wall switch make sure its on

Check that your power cable is securely plug in to both ends

Check that at the back of computer, specifically on the back of the power supply unit that the switch is on "1" position and NOT on the "0" position ( 1 is "ON" , 0 is "OFF" )

Check that the power outlet is not damaged by pluging in another good known device (such as a blowdryer, shaver, lamp, radio, etc, etc) to see if its the power outlet or not.

Can you see power or green led lights and hear the fan on but no display ? If this is the case , check your monitor connection at both ends. If they are secured open up your case and see if you can smell any burnt smell or check that all cards especially video cards are properly seated.

Emachine with XP home edition doesn't start

Hi hearalso, down to the basic's. Replace power cord.
No help there than, remove the case's side panel to expose the motherboard. (Normally it is the left side panel while facing the front of the PC.)
Look closely for a small (green in color) led light. The power cord must be connected to the PC & connected to you're power strip but do not press the power on button on the PC.
The green led tell's you the board is receiving 5volts. Check all connections. Un-plug & reconnect every data & power connector in your PC. (Double check). There is a fuse inside your power supply that may have blown. Check you're manual page, Approva Statements B-1. Fuse Warning Instruction Caution.
Check fuse in power supply. (Unplug power cord before opening).
If you can not power up the PC after all of the above than if possible, swap out the power supply.
Replacing the power supply is the last step.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!

Mike
