Hello Kerry,

There is not a repair / service manual that has been published on the net by Planar. You will likely have to talk to a service center to try and get power supply schematic / function.

This will be a long shot, but you might try searching Google Patents for the patent # that is on your monitor. Many times, at least the original version of schematic drawing is listed, and sometimes there will be a engineer's description of advanced functionality. Just keep in mind that it is common for manufacturing revisions to not quite match what is on the patent.

I have a Planar monitor the PD470. It will not turn on sometimes. If I unplug it it will usually work, but not always. Seems to be getting worst.

Willing to bet you have faulty capacitors in the power supply. It's an easy fix if you have soldering skills and basic electronics knowledge.

Hi My Planar (PL2010M) suddenly went black. On restart, it flashes briefly but never comes on. Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem on my Planar PD470; power supply failed after about a year and a half. I heard that their HDTV power supplies had a higher than normal failure rate. I have someone working with the company to resolve, but I'm not optimistic... Bah Humbug. How long have you had your set?

Monitor displays wide vertical stripes/bands

That is the symptom of failed T-CON board (part of the LCD panel assembly, new panel will be needed), you can try reseating the ribbon connector on the LCD panel first.

Label over the functions needs to be replaced

theresa_bugb, If your monitor is not in current production by the manufacturer your chances are slim to none of obtaining a replacement. Have you searched out the manufacturer over the web? Try going to a local electronics retailer and check with their service department and find out if they even service this PLANAR monitor or can even order replacement parts. All I can tell you is good luck, doll. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @
