Hello,

I will advice you press the space between the space bar and the touch pad before switch on the power.

If the problem still persist, hold the start button for 5 seconds then it will start but there is a mother board problem. it will work for until you shut down the system. the mother board may have got cooked and if that is the case then you will have to contact vaio about it or replace it.

Take care.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, model PCG-384L. It will not power up. My wife indicated that she push some button that lock the power. Can seem to find the button that controls or locks the power button. ...

Typically that flashing light means low battery. Which makes sense, as you probably have an issue with the AC Adapter that you plug into the computer to charge it, or the DC Jack that this adapter plugs into on the laptop. Either of these things will cause your computer to not charge the battery, and if there isn't enough power it won't turn on.

Sony vaio pcg-grt170 when I push the power button, the green light and 2 yellow lights blink one time but the computer will not turn on. I tried taking the battery out, checked the power cord.

Perform these steps and the issue will be resolved if the issue is with the Static charges on the Mother board.

I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these steps:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and do NOT connect the battery now.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.
