Cylinderhead torque settings

I'm not sure what engine you have in your 95 grand am SO I will give you both the 4cyl and 6cyl Specs. Also you didn't ask for the torque sequence. I will include that as well for both. 2.3 DOHC Quad 4cyl: Torque sequence---> front ' 7 3 1 5 9 ' of engine ' 8 6 2 4 10 ' Step 1: torque bolts 1 thru 6 (26 Ft/Lbs & 90 degree turn) Step 2: torque bolts 7 & 8 (15 Ft/Lbs & 90 degree turn) Step 3: torque bolts 9 & 10 (22 Ft/Lbs & 90 degree turn) Recheck final torque in sequence *** CAUTION *** This engine uses "Torque To Yield" (TTY) head bolts that means they permanently stretch during the initial installation. New head bolts must be used when cylinder head is replaced or re-installed in order to obtain proper torque. 3.1 liter V6 Torque sequence--> ' 6 2 3 7 ' ' 5 1 4 8 ' Step 1: torque bolts in sequence to 33 Ft/Lbs Step 2: turn an additional 90 degrees Recheck final torque in sequence *** CAUTION *** This particular engine uses "Torque To Yield" head bolts(TTY) (that means the bolts permanently stretch during the initial installation.) You MUST use NEW head bolts when replacing or reinstalling the cylinder head in order to obtain the proper torque.

My tosshiba satellite A665-55186 wont go in to windows boot, what can i do??

Just like other computers, your Toshiba laptop may start failing to boot the operating system completely, or may fail to boot up at all. Boot problems are caused by virus infections and issues related to hardware and software. With the proper troubleshooting techniques, boot problems can be remedied to get the laptop into good working condition.

1. Perform initial hardware checks. Ensure that the laptop has enough battery life to boot up. Charge the laptop using its AC adapter and then try to boot the laptop again. If nothing happens, plug the AC adapter into another power outlet. If this does not help, check to see if external drives (flash drive, external hard drive, etc.) are connected into one of your USB ports. Unplug it from the laptop and press the laptop's power button. If the laptop powers on but fails to load the operating system, proceed to the next step.

2. Ensure that the hard disk is not disabled in the boot sequence in your BIOS. Otherwise, the laptop will fail to fully boot the operating system. Reboot the computer and press a key that will lead you to the BIOS page. Set your hard disk as your "first boot priority," or first in the "boot sequence." Note that the steps on loading the BIOS as well as navigating throughout the BIOS pages will depend on what brand of BIOS is installed in your laptop.

3. Choose boot to the "Last known good configuration" if you get an error page before the operating system boots up. If after choosing this option the computer reboots again, choose "Start Windows Normally," if this is in the list of options.

4. Consider repairing or reinstalling the operating system if the computer still fails to boot after the steps above. Repairing the operating system will retain your current data and settings. Reinstalling the operating system means reformatting or deleting all data in your computer and installing a fresh copy of the operating system.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards from fixya

New laptop C650, how to install OS ?

If you are installing Windows, you need the Windows installation CD and the product installation code.
Boot up the Toshiba with this installation CD in the DVD/CD drive and follow the on screen instructions.
After Windows is installed you need to install the Toshiba's devices.
You may need to download these Toshiba drivers using another computer.
These instructions are just the basic details.
If you need further instructions, please get back to me and tell me at what stage you are having troubles.

I am doing a clean install of windows 7 on my Acer T180 and I need to set the boot sequence to cd-rom first. How do I view the present boot sequence and how do I change it to cd-rom first if necessary?

As soon as you power on your laptop, you want to start pressing F2, it depends on who made the motherboard if it is not F2 then the key to access your "system setup" will usually be displayed in one of the corners during POST This is the initial startup routine of any pc this is the screen you will see the ACER logo appear.
Once you are in there you will want to be careful of any changes you make, the command you are looking for is the (boot sequence) on most PC's the (+) (-) symbol is the way to toggle your choices after you have placed the cdrom first in the sequence then save and exit and on the next startup the pc should know to look to the cdrom to load the install disc. Let me know if you need more help

Laptop won't boot up.

You don't need dos prompt to format the HDD. You said you already tried to reinstall XP so I would assume you have a Windows XP boot disk. During the initial start up of the Windows XP installation from the CD you should be prompted with an option to format and/or re partition your hard drive.
Firstly however you should check in BIOS if you have an option under boot to "Try other boot devices" and if it is enabled plus make sure your HDD is set to the first position of boot order.
If you have any USB drivers plugged in disconnect them and try again.
If all this is to no avail your HDD or motherboard might be damaged. Try and replace the HDD see if that works.

Hope any of these help.
