My emachine does not have sound. Apparently the sound feature was installed on the motherboard. The repairer installed a sound card and reformatted the hardrive and this worked for one day. Please...

Are you using Windows? If so, you can try the following link to fix the sound playback issue automatically.

http://support.microsoft.com/gp/no_sound

Other options will be reinstall the sound driver come with the sound card or perform a system restore to the date the repairer fixed it. You can check the accessories and volumns to make sure those are working too. Did the repairer reformat the hard drive because of virus?

I reformat my desktop computer with windows xp svc pack 2 . the problem have no sound . the motherboard is asustek model p4pe-xte .kindly give me solution

Hi,
If you have formatted your computer then the problem might be because the drivers for sound are not yet installed.
Please install the sound drivers and that should take care of the issue.
Right click on "My computer" --> Properties --> Hardware tab --> Device Manager
Under device manager, check the sound devices.. there might be a red cross (X) or Question mark (?) or a exclamation mark (!) indicating problem with the drivers .. just right click on the device and select update drivers and that should take care of it or if you have a sound driver CD/DVD, insert the same in the optical drive and install.

Let me know if that helps.

Regards,
Srinivas

My dell desktop can't give me sound.

I agree with Hector above. Please be a bit more specific to the problem.

Some possible solutions:

If you reformatted the system recently, there is a specific order to loading the drivers. If you don't follow that order, the sound won't work and you will need to reformat and load the drivers in the order below.

I had the same problem formatting 5 like systems and sound only worked on one of them. After countless reloads, I called Dell support who alerted me to this problem.

Here is the order:
1-desktop system software (optional)
2-Intel Chipset Software
3-Video Drivers
4-Sigmatel driver (or sound driver)
5-Network driver

Another issue could be that someone muted your speakers. If the following icon in the tray looks like this,
43d53c4.jpg
left click on it and this menu will appear:
e14a29b.jpg
Uncheck MUTE and click anywhere on the desktop.

If the icon isn't even there, that's for another topic, for another day.

I BOUGHT A USED G4

That the earlier owner didn't know his own password is a bit suspicious. It sounds as if you do need to reformat. I suggest finding a OS system, maybe on Ebay or Craigs List.
