The Tv has a password set on it.
When does it display to enter a password??? Is it when you power on or is it where you attempt to go under the "system settings" or change channels?
I read that someone else did something similar, we will have to do a factory reset unless we can get that password. We will try the simple things first and move toward a full reset.

Ah the usual result of little fingers at work or play ;-]
Most tv's use the password to lock out access to the v chip and other parental controls. The idea is to set it password it so the levels can't be changed and then most people forget it. Or you have someone playing with the remote little kid (or a big adult one) and they enter in a code. The code is just a 4 digit number ie 1234.
Each manufacturer usually has a override code. It will change from model to model. If you contact Onida support they may tell you what the reset over ride is. Most likly they will tell you how to reset the tv. This would wipe out your settings. Those are about your only two options. The pass code is stored in non volatile memory so unplugging the tv even for a few months won't get around it.
To contact Onida visit the website and look for the number under customer support. The number may also be listed in your owners manual if thats handy.
The one thing that is fairly constant in electronics is the protection of passwords and how to reset them . While in most cases its a legitimate reason the companies and people involved will be fairly close mouthed about what they tell you or how they do things just incase. For example if this were a laptop you would have to bring it to a repair depot with proof of purchase id and so on just to prove it was yours. So if they don;t sound real enthusiastic about changing the password now you know why.
