Sound no longer comes out of monitor. I believe nothing is muted. I replaced cable between monitor and desktop. Any suggestions.

You didn't provide a model for your Envision monitor, so I can provide specifics - but here's a few things to try: (1) Start an audio program on the computer (mp3, CD audio, movie, etc. (2) Disconnect the audio patch cable from the computer's speaker jack and plug in stereo headphones. Adjust the volume on the computer's audio control panel to set the volume. If you're not receiving any sound - make sure you're plugged into the speaker jack (this is often the green jack). If you now hear sound, continue to (3). If you are unable to hear any sounds - your problem is INSIDE the computer. More on this later. Continue to the next step. (3) Disconnect the headphones and try the audio patch cable between the computer and monitor again. Make sure you're using a stereo cable - it has 2 individual contact points on the plugs - mono cables have just two. Pay close attention to the jacks if more than one are offered on the monitor (some monitors have power output jacks, etc.). Select the "LINE IN" or "SPEAKER IN" jack on the monitor. Be sure the plugs are firmly seated into the jacks on both the monitor and computer. (4) Check the menu settings of the monitor to make sure that the speakers are enabled (or not disabled as the case may be).

if you were unable to hear audio in step (2) above, there is a problem with the audio circuit in the computer. Some things to check are: Is there a volume knob on the sound card that is turned to minimum? Are (all) the correct drivers installed for the sound card in control panel? Is the sound card enabled? Does the sound card have a problem indicated by an "x" or "!" on the icon in control panel? Many times, "uninstalling" the device in control panel and the "scanning for changes" to reinstall will solve the problem. Other times, it is an output device issue: Have you selected "Speakers" as the output (not HDMI or Digital Audio).

If still unable to get sound working, provide the Envision model number along with computer name & model or the sound card name and model. If the sound is built into the motherboard, provide the mother board name and model. With that info, it will be easier to get the info you need.

Hopefully, you got the sound working with the tips I provided above. Please rate my reply. Thanks.

I reformated my hard drive and installed windows 7, then i downloaded windows live messenger but when i use video call i cannot hear the person whom i calling but they can hear me your help is very much...

Reformatting has no relevance here.
They hear you, but you can't hear them. Which means, your OS is able to communicate with the sound hardware. Also means, the driver is not likely to be the cause. Check sound properties & see how many audio devices are listed. If more than 1 sound card is listed, see which input device (i.e., sound in) is the default. Set the output device to the same.
Check the sound output jack. Plug in a headphone or a different set of speakers. Then, play an mp3 or wav file. If you get sound, then the problem is with the msnger config.
If you do not get any sound, then you might have a bad jack. There is also a small chance that the driver is incorrect and works only with the input, but not the output. This is not very likely as Win7 is better at handling drivers than prior versions. Make sure the driver you're using is for W7. XP or Vista driver will not work properly.

No sound from the HDMI

This document pertains to HP or Compaq PCs with an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector for connecting a monitor or TV. If you use HDMI to connect your display, you must activate HDMI sound by adjusting your Windows settings . If HDMI is not activated, you cannot hear any sound. Because of this, HP recommends that you connect analog speakers to the computer to hear sound during the initial setup of the computer. Use the following steps to activate HDMI sound on your computer: NOTE: If you ever perform an HP system recovery, you must repeat this procedure to activate sound for the HDMI connector.
  1. Right-click the Volume icon by the time in the lower-right corner.
  2. Click Playback Devices . The Sound window opens.
  3. On the Playback tab, click Digital Output Device (HDMI) if it is listed. If it is not listed, click Realtek HDMI Output . Figure 1: Digital Output Device (HDMI) selectionc01503048.gif Figure 2: Realtek HDMI Output selectionc01063625.gif
  4. Click Set Default .
  5. Click Apply .
    • If you used Digital Output Device (HDMI) , click OK to close the window. This completes the steps to activate HDMI sound.
    • If you used Realtek HDMI Output , continue with Step 6.
  6. Double-click Realtek HDMI Output . The Realtek Digital Output Properties window opens.
  7. Click the Supported Formats tab.
  8. Place a check in the 48.0 KHz check box, and make sure that there are no checks in the Dolby Digital check box and all other check boxes. Figure 3: Supported Formats settings in the Realtek Digital Output Properties windowc01503049.gif NOTE: For most TVs to play back audio, the sample rate must be 48.0 KHz.
  9. Click OK to close the window.

My hearing aids always seem muffled. I am unable

Using a magnifying glass or eye loop, check for wax build up in the output (hole in hearing aid that is closest to eardrum). I have in-channel type hearing aids. The hearing aid audiologist gave me "wax gaurds" to prevent wax buildup in the output hole. If you have any wax in the hole, try to remove it by using a small wire loop - (a shape like a square "u") and scoop the wax out. If that doesn't help, the hearing aid may need to be professionally cleaned. Lastly, as my mom would say, "clean out your ears"
