Shut down your computer, and then remove all the Peripheral
Component Interconnect (PCI) devices.Restart your computer. If Windows starts successfully, shut down your
computer, and then reinstall the PCI devices one at a time. Start
Windows

that causes
the issue that is described in the "Symptoms" section, remove that
device, and then continue to install the other PCI
devices.

you would need to get all the drivers for your laptop from the IBM website and install all of them. If you cant find them or need further help please post back and let me know.
Yepp, you can do that! Its not XP who desides if you can or not, its your motherboard, if u have a free pci-slot you can install it.
Put in the pci device in the free slot, start your pc, xp will find it and ask if you want to install it. Now you have two choises
One: you let xp do all the installation
Two: you selec to install it your self via a cd where you have the drivers, you can also install it from drivers stored on your HDD,
After the installation dont forget to check device manager to see if there are yellow exclamation marks (!) next to the device.
Hey there cajununo. The error message you get is telling you that your configuration is wrong and/or you are missing drivers. for your installed hardware. Making the assumption that these were recently installed, I will suggest you go back to basics and pull out all unnecessary devices. Get the machine to post with basic configuration and enter bios setup. Enable all the ports or slots required to seat all the devices you are about to install. Save changes and exit to boot. Then, following instuctions that came with your devices, install one device, ensuring all drivers required have been installed. Restart and then move on to the next. This one at a time approach, will allow you to identify the problem device ( if there still is one ). I hope this helps. Good Luck!
