My Artisan 810 ADF gets jam error. There is no paper there. The motor just whirls and then gives ADF jam error. My 810 is near new, less than 300 sheets printed, less than 100 scanned using ADF. HELP!

Just fixed my problem today. It was the ADF assembly motor. The spur gear had cracked open where it can no longer grip tightly to the center rod when the motor spins. I bought a new motor assembly from CompassMicro for the total amount of $23 and my printer is back in running order like normal again. Beats taking it to a repair center and get ripped!

Here are the two steps I used myself to solve this:
1. Complete your online registration with Epson
2. Call Epson tech support about the ADF jams. You may have to spend an hour going through various troubleshooting steps with them.

They simply sent me a replacement printer. This is cheaper for Epson than trying to actually fix the problem!

I've just had an even faster experience. As soon as I described the ADF malfunction, they said "we'll FedEx a replacement and pay the shipping both ways." (I did have to make a deposit until the old one gets back to them.)

I did the same thing and they replaced it with a well worn unit! Garbage!

A problem with epson artisan 810

  1. Turn the printer off, then disconnect the power and the interface cable. Open the cover and check for any torn or jammed paper and remove it.
  2. Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on.
  3. Press the Copy button and see if the unit responds.
Note: Also check that the ink cartridges and lids are pushed down fully.

If the problem persists, an unknown printer error has occurred. The printer may require service.

Communications error between Windows 8.1 computer and Artisan 835 scanner

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your Epson printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Fix 'Carriage Jam' : Open Door, clear carriage jam,
and then press OK to continue' error message
Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

ADF wont feed the paper through the printer

You can load up to 30 sheets of plain paper in the Artisan 800 ADF. If the ADF doesn't feed the paper, check the following.

1. Make sure that you are loading plain paper only without a holes. 3-hole punched paper is not supported by this printer.

2. Load paper not exceed 30 sheets.

3. Open the ADF and check for any jammed paper or foreign object that is blocking the paper feeding path.

4. Check if the BIG GREEN ADF indicator is lit when you load paper in the ADF.

If the issue persists, your printer will require service. You can contact the Epson for warranty if your printer still under warranty. If your warranty expires, look for an a service center that can repair your printer.

Epson Artisan 800 ADF jams ever time. THere is no paper in it and I've unplugged it and restarted it multiple time. Havn't had it that long. 1 year or maybe a bit more.

There are two gears that are made of plastic that have hard rubber toothed sprockets pressed on them. These sprockets split and allow the drive motor to slip. Epson will only sell the motor assembly and not just the gear. I used a dot of supperglue to repair the sprockets and all works fine now.

I have a epson artisan 800 I'm tring to fax from the automatic feeder but it keeps making a grinding sound and then it says paper jam but paper never even went through

I took apart my artison 800 with 'paper jam' error and grinding noise. Sadly enough, it is the plastic gear attached to the stepper motor which is slipping and making the grinding noise. I tried to glue it and it worked once or twice and failed again. It is a design flaw and Epson should repair this for free if they are honest about this problem. Ir is not a user-caused problem.
