Cable and ADSL 2 are two quite different technologies so the short answer is no.

I'd suggest putting it on eBay (you might get $15 - $20 for it as that's what I paid for one for a friend) or giving it away.

Then buy an ADSL 2 modem from the same source (eBay)

As for unlocking it I have no idea how to do this and it would only be of use to you if you wanted use it as a Telstra Cable modem but you wrote that you needed an ADSL 2 modem so......

Good Luck

How to connect hp officejet 4620 to my netgear cg814wg v2

First connect it via USB to a computer and set it up so it works over the cable.

Then re-install it to be wireless, putting in the router requirements.

Then under instructions unplug the router.

It should then be set up to run wirelessly.

I have a cable modem and wish to add Wireless. I have a Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router DG834GB v3 but not the instructions to install it. Not sure what goes into where from the original...

In general, the ethernet cable from your cable modem will plug into the WAN port on your wireless router. If you had a PC plugged into the cable modem, that PC will now plug into one of the other free ports on the wireless router.
You can get documentation and install guides from netgear's site. try this link:

If I have a wireless router do I still need a modem?

It is depend on which type of connection cable your internet service provider.
You don't need modem if in your router ADSL port and your ISP gives you ADSL but if on wi fi router there not dsl port and your ISP gives you dsl cable then you need modem.

Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Optus adsl2 is slow

Unfortunately most problems like this are caused by poor telephone line quality which makes it a BT problem. See if your neighbours are getting faster ADSL speeds. IF they are then report an ADSL fault to BT. Also try disconnecting your house wiring right back to the master socket and test your ADSL from there. Remember that the ADSL connection is only between your computer and your local BT sub-exchange from there to the rest of the internet is a high speed pipe shared between all the ISP's used in your area, the various ISP's just rent a portion of the bandwith of the pipe.
