Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a PDS22SISBRSS that keeps clicking, sounds as if the compressor is trying to start. The indicators for temp are dark. If I start the turbo cool, eventually the compressor comes on as well as the temp indicators.

It keeps going through a start up process (clicking and the fan come on then off quickly) at first staying steady then getting longer in the start up process.

Hi David, thank you for your inquiry. I understand that your Frigidaire Refrigerator is cycling on and off more than you expected. Todays newer refrigerator's have to meet Dept of Energy (DOE) specifications for energy savings. Typically the fan and compressor runs to get the fresh food temp down to 34*, the compressor shuts off and the fan runs for thirty more minutes and shuts down. The fan will repeatedly cycle on and off to keep the temp down as close to 34*. Once the temp in the fresh food hits 40* for more than two minutes the compressor cycles back on again. This will cause the temps in the fresh food to dwell between 35-40 and in the freezer section between 8-15. Hope this helps! -JK

Whistling when accelerating outlander turbo diesel

turbo whistle is common as it comes from the tips of the compressor wheel passing through the sound barrier and the turbulence occurs. IN the older trucks you would the turbo whistle as the engine reached full RPM just before a gear change. In smaller engine it is not do noticeable as there is an excess of air pressure that keeps the compressor wheel at a lower rpm and the pressure is dumped out. Turbo compressors reach revolutions in excess of 120.000 rpm under full load If it has just started to make the noise then check the intercooler system for leaks--loose clamps--- splits - Have the turbo compressor checked for damaged fins from the ingress of fine dirt from a bad air filter---check the air filter is not blocked as the turbo speed may result from running in a partial vacuum ( no load on the compressor wheel)

Car won't start after starting it with coolant temp sensor disconnected

Try a boost first before taking things apart, sound like low voltage.
Now about the fans.Sometimes it's easier (if the fans will work with voltage applied) just to install a relay and fire it off the switched power wire at the A/C compressor.Use this relay supply to voltage to the fans when the compressor runs.Want fans when not using A/C?Run a "in rad hose" temp switch and run that wire to the same relay to run fans when temp rises.Think after market hot rod stuff and keep it easy and simple,

Refrigerator not working blowing warm air

there is a control board located inside the lower left rear wall near the floor by the compressor end of unit, you will need to replace this board,a sign of this will be if you have heard a clicking sound from there and you have blown out light bulbs in the refrige section, and the temp indicators are out or dark, its easily replaced by unplugging old and plugging new board inside plastic box

Frige will only cool now and then clicking sound coming from temp control

Are you sure the sound is coming from the thermostat or temp control as you call it? A lot of times the clicking noise is the start relay on the compressor....which is not sarting the compressor. Sounds like your start relay but I'm not there looking at it. I changed two start relays in 2 days this week. It is common.

Intertherm S3QA042K compressor won't restart

You probably need a hard-start kit. A hard-start kit connects to the run capacitor and provides a starting boost for your compressor. If you install a hard-start kit, monitor your a/c for a while because it is possible that the bearings in the compressor are going bad.
