Question about GE Dryers

1 Answer

DHDSR46EE1WW Elec. dryer is shuting off with time still left on timer. Have heat and drum turns. Some times you have to re-start a cycle 6 or 8 times to complete. Could this be the start switch or the timer assy?

Couldn't be the start switch but it is definitely the timer (part number WE4M271) if you can restart it right away after it shuts off. Otherwise it is a problem with either of the thermostats.

DHDSr46ee1ww has new heating element and switch but will not start.

Have you checked the motor kill switch? Its located by the motor. When the belt comes off the idler pulley actuates this killing power to the machine. Sometimes the switch goes bad over time and needs to be changed. The part number is wd21x10261 and runs around $12

The drum on my dryer will turn when I set the timer to any setting, but the timer does not work, nor does it heat up. Any suggestions?

See if the timer advances in the timed dry or the auto dry cycles. If the timer advances in timed dry but not in auto dry, then you could have a wire connection failure in the orange wire from the heating element to the timer.

If the timer will not advance in either type of cycle, then I recommend checking the timer part number that you are using.

Have a 90 series kenmore dryer, won't always run. replaced the motor about 6 months ago, and now it will sometimes run, sometimes not. It gets hot, and will run for a bit then shut down, then start up...

If the timer is not advancing but is ticking that could be the problem. A dryer achieves a set temperature and stays there for a certain amount of time during a cycle. If the time never changes it may just keep heating up until the heat sensor shuts it down. If it is starting and shutting down its likely still related to the heat sensor.

My GE DHDSR46EE1WW Dryers heating coil won't shut off...ever!

I think your heating coil may have broken loose or sagged down so that it may be shorting itself against the shroud. The thermal fuse would not allow the dryer to heat at all, and a hi limit error would cause the thermal fuse to blow.

Element heats, dryer tumbles, no heat in drum, never shuts off

Hi, If the dryer heats but will not advance in either time or auto cycles, you need to change the timer.
You can test to see if the timer is getting voltage. Remove the top rear panel and locate the two wires going to the timer motor. There should be 120V when the dryer is running in time dry.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic
