Please do not follow the above advice! Your Companion II scooter uses U1 batteries which are 35AH batteries. Using the batteries suggested above will not only lessen the time you can use your scooter, it will also void all warranties.

The amount of usage you get out of your batteries is determined by many factors. How old are the batteries? How long have they been charged? What is your weight? What type of terrain are you driving on? Are the lights on while driving?

Your Companion, with new fully charged batteries, should get you 15 to 25 miles to a charge depending on the variables listed above. When batteries first come from the factory, they are typically at 80% charge. It will take approximately 5 charges and usages for the batteries to achieve full charge. This is normal for most batteries.

My suggestion is to take it to a dealer and have them load test the batteries. This will help to determine if there is an issue with the batteries. If they test out properly there may be an issue with the charger. Please remember, we recommend charging batteries overnight.

It is always best to charge them for at least 8 hours. We have found many individuals attempt to charge batteries for two hours or so. From speaking to the battery manufacturers, they tell us this typically does no good.

Your Golden dealer will be your best resource to determine if there is anything wrong with the unit.

I'm not to shure the dimensions of your two batteries but this is what i would do. (i go to high school so i have a bunch of time on my hands) Try some car audio batteries like these.

you are probably going to have to copy and past the links. if these can rune a car stereo all day then they should run your scooter for way more than 3 hours.

Golden Companion Scooter not moving - diagnosed via owner manual

Hi. Many scooters will display this fault code if the potentiometer is not exactlly centred when you turn on the key. The pot is not always faulty. Some scooters also have a smaller additional pot to controll the speed. If this pot is faulty it will cause the same fault code. Any other switches such as indoor/ outdoor switches. I have had a few machines fitted with curtis controllers where the fault is in the controller.
Check the wiring and plugs and connectors.
Good luck. Neil.

If the batteries are charged and the brake is in the drive possition, it is possible that either there is a problem with the Wig Wag (forward/reverse paddle control) or the speed pot. Some ideas for you to look at.

Reversing thumb controls

Your authorized Golden Technologies, Inc. dealer can reverse the thumb lever controls so that when you push on the “left” lever, your scooter will move in the forward direction, and pushing on the “right” lever will move your scooter in reverse.

If you don't want to go to a dealer, any mechanic who is willing can make this adjustment for y ou. hope this helps.

Companion II Scooter

Need to remove the five screws form the back side of the tiller. You can then tell if the adjustment lever has come off or the adjustment cylinder is bad.
