When I try to load the pictures from camera to PC, get I/O error? Any ideas as to the problem? Is it operator error or?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Try formatting the card on your pc, connect the card to a card reader, open my computer find the card, right click format, try standard fat first and format. if that doesn't work try Fat 32.

OK, when I use my Kodak Easy share cameras on a fresh computer that hasn't downloaded Kodak pictures before I do the following:

Load Easyshare software onto the machine, and install it.

Then, I connect the camera to the computer.

Then, I open the Easyshare software and it may ask a few questions.

Next, I watch the computer (Windows 7) as it loads the proper driver for my camera.

Finally, I click on transfer pictures and I am set with my pictures.

The pictures should show up in the Start Menu's picture under Kodak Pictures.

You should be done.

Let me know how it works out with the Easyshare software downloaded to the computer before trying to load pictures on to the computer.

Download the latest version of quicktime player and you should have no problem.
P.S. Always a good idea to keep all drivers updated

Suspect you have a PC/Laptop SOFTWARE problem, there. I've had this myself. Can you try and load the software on another PC, and see if that works? - Larry

Hi, On another brand/model, PC message "card error" indicates a problem with the memory card of the camera. A couple of things we tried to restore it: 1. Remove the memory card, wipe clean especially the gold contacts making sure that it is dry and shiny (also the battery if possible); 2. Blow into the opening/slot where the memory is inserted to remove any dust, dirt or even a bit moisture; 3. Let the camera and removed memory card sit for a while at room temperature; 4. Put everything back and try again; 5. If it still doesn't work, it is possible that for some unknown reasons, the memory card was corrupted. This would mean re-formatting it but of course that would mean erasing whatever pictures and/or data are stored inside; 6. Try a recovery software with a card reader to try and recover whatever is possible and format the card; 7. It is preferable to format the card using the camera rather than the PC; Sometimes just removing and reinserting the card works. Hope the above gives you an idea or two.
