Try to do all the following solutions:

1. Delete all Cache and Cookies/temporary internet files on your browsers.

2. Perform a Disk Cleanup to remove unwanted files that may be causing the slowdown. Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.

3. Perform a Disk Defragmenter. This is used to increase access speed by rearranging files stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations.

4. Run an updated Anti Virus tool as slowdown may be caused by an infection as well.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

FIXING A SLOW COMPUTER

A slow computer could be caused by a number of things -
1. Insufficient RAM (memory) - if your computer has less than 512Mb of RAM then increase it to at least 1Gb of RAM.
2. Registry problems - clean and repair the registry, it will contain unused registry keys. Use programs such as Registry Mechanic, Microsoft RegClean etc.
3. Uninstall/remove unused programs, this will also free up hard disk space.
4. Not enough hard disk space - swap file space may need to be increased if Windows hasn't been configured to manage it.
5. Install latest Windows updates.
6. Update virus definition files and scan computer for viruses, Trojans, malware etc.
7. Clear the Internet cache for faster browsing.
8. Hard disk maintenance is required at least once a month to keep it functioning efficiently.
Run the following programs -
Disk Cleanup - removes temporary files that are no longer used and to recovers hard disk space.
Disk Defragmenter to make fragmented files into contiguous files and therefore the hard disk access is faster.

My laptop is very slow and lags

HARD DISK MAINTENANCE TO KEEP COMPUTER RUNNING EFFICIENTLY.
Hard disk maintenance should be carried once a month to make your computer run efficiently. This removes redundant and temporary files, recovers disk space and speed up hard disk access. Disk Cleanup should be done first - Click My Computer - then right click on the C drive then click Properties, then click Disk Cleanup - let it examine the C drive then it will calculate the amount of disk space it will recover, tick all the boxes to recover the maximum disk space and then Click OK and then Yes to perform these actions. If you have a D drive then repeat these steps on this drive too. Next the C drive needs to be Defrag. This process converts fragmented files into continuous files and this speeds up disk access and makes the hard disk not work as hard. Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter - click to highlight the C drive and click Analyse - then click Defragment. When this is completed repeat these steps for the D Drive if you have a D drive. Disk Cleanup and Defrag can take a long time to complete, especially if these tasks have not been for a long time.

Windows vista toshiba satellite A 135 S4667 is very slow. I'm wireless and added 2 gb so now have 4gb but running slower than ever. Especially when I'm on Pogo site. My sound is also not synced...

Are you noticing it to be very slow online or just in general use? If it's just slow online then it could be your internet connection. If it's generally slow then I suggest a disk defrag, disk clean-up and a virus scan.

I have recently written several tips that can help you speed things up:
