Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

It is leaking all over the place......since the floor is on a slant, the water ran down to the lowest point; created quite a flood and now the floor needs replacing....but I will not repair the floor until the conditioner is fixed..... there is a drain hole, with a screw-on cover; when the cover is on, the unit shuts off....we have had the cover off (due to the excessive heat---Florida)

Sounds like your condensate drain line is clogged. This should be easy to find and fix. It probably has gunk in it that can be blown through the line or you can use a coat hanger wire. you can pour a couple of ounces of bleach into the condensate pan to keep that stuff from growing in the future.

Where can I look for the leak that floods the passenger side floor?

Look for places where two or more body panels meet. They're most likely secured together with spot welds and filled with sealant at the factory. You may have to look in the channels that are under trim surrounding a window or other glass. I had have 2013 Altima that pooled water in the rear seat floor area nearly 2 inches deep due to a poor seal between two panels in the engine compartment (firewall) just below the front windshield. Water followed wiring channels and contours in the floor pan (without getting carpet wet) to the lowest point - the back seat floor. So - don't overlook *anything* Good luck!

Where are the drains in my 2000 beetle ? I have a puddle of water under passenger seat !

Drill a 3/8 th hole through the floor at the lowest point then look for the water leak ,is the AC drain pipe clear as this is the most obvious point of entry and the AC condensate will run into car if this pipe is blocked

Float switch dripping water onto floor while dishwaser running

You will find that the flood switch will be operating due to the leak, it will most likely be from one of 2 places:
1. Around the door seal, Give it a clean and check for splits/damage, and make sure screws on door hinges are tight.
2. Check the rollers that screw onto the inside of the dishwasher cabinet, The screws on these can come loose and cause water to run down into the base, check they are tight.
Hopefully this helps.

LG dishwasher leaking out the bottom of the door. It's that gasket that runs along the inside bottom of the door. How do you keep it in place? It keeps pushing in and then floods my kitchen.

My dishwasher was doing the same thing, but it was because of a clogged vent. The minerals in the water built up to a point that it was totally blocked and since it couldnt vent, the water ran down the inside of the door and leaked out the bottom. I just popped the vent cover off of the inside of the door and cleaned it out and it stopped leaking.

No power in the dishwaher (it is plugged and yes power On)

If you didnt transport it home in an upright position, residual water may have gone down to the bottom of the cabinet and activated the flood switch(F1 =flood switch activated)To fix-FIRST UNPLUG FROM THE MAINS,so you dont get inadvertantly electrocuted.Remove the bottom drawer(there are tabs on either side of the draw that you need to push in and slide back about half way and lift the draw off the runners(refit by reverse procedure)
Carefully place draw to one side and on the LH side of the now exposed cavity you will see a grey ,white or black flattish plastic cover that will slide to the left and lift off to expose a credit card sized printed circuit board.on the LH end of that circuit board is the flood switch (the board is an upside down "L" shape and the flood switch is on the shorter part of the "L" that protudes down towards the floor(lowest point on the floor to detect any water in the event of a flood)remove the + shaped screw and CAREFULLY unplug the wires(noting their position down on a piece of paper )there is a latch that you have to push first before lifting out the credit card sized circuit board that is on the LH side of the board.Once removed mop up excess water on the floor of the cabinet and dry thoroughly the circuit board and wet cabinet area with a hairdrier. Then once totally satisfied its all completely dry,Refit the circuit board ,all the plugs(double checking they are correct and none missed out!)Refit the cover and refit the draw,Plug back in and hopefully that will solve the problem!

There is no water going into the dishwasher even though the water supply is on.

This is a typical Anti Flood system activation. This system activates when water leaks onto the floor of the machiene due to a leak fault (pipe/hose clamp/ partly blocked pipe). The machiene automatically switches to pump out mode and stops water inlet. The anti flood system is a polystireen float / micro switch at the base of the machiene floor. Dry the floor and drectify the leak and it should work.

WASHER LEAKING ALL OVER THE PLACE

your float system is malfunctioning. This is a system in place to tell the machine when to stop taking in water at whatever level you set it to. Its either a rubber hose system or sometimes an electrical float switch.
