Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Dryer runs but won't heat

So many possibilities. Most probably the overheat switch, but there are several other possibilities. Check the switch (it's really a fuse). Check for continuity, replace if not zero ohms. If that is okay, find the schematic (usually attached to the case, on back, or perhaps inside) and trace the circuit to see what is defective. There is the heating element, the thermostat, among other possibilities. I hope this is helpful.

Kenmore dryer runs but no heat. I have ohm checked the heating element, all thermostats and the thermal fuse. All ohm okay. I also checked voltage throughout the circuits from the main block to each...

Did you read ~220 volts AC across the two slanted blades of the power socket? The motor and controls usually run on 115 volts. When the timer is set to dry, press start, and look for ~220 volts at the heater element connections. (Don't let the heater reach full heat if it starts working!) You may have to short the door switch connections to get the unit to run. If you don't read 220 volts at the plug, check the output from each breaker of the dryer pair (should read 115 volts to neutral). Hope this helps!

Dryer heats okay, but it doesn't run.

You likely have a broken tumbler belt. You will need to replace it.

Dryer will not start but light comes on, heats drum okay. The dryer heats, the light goes off when the door closes, checked the drum and the belt is okay. When the start button is pushed nothing happens.

Hi,

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

The most common causes are the belt breaking or jumping off, or the motor going bad...

Here are a couple of tips that I wrote will help you to figure out why your dryer will not run...

No heat

Your problem is more than likely one of the following:

* heat source: elec. heat element, gas coils, gas igniter or radiant sensor (depending on elec. or gas model)
* thermostat
* timer

Dryer all is working but not heating

Hi!

First of all please check the thermal fuse. If it is out okay (by-passed or tested with an ohmmeter), then check the heating element. This can be checked by removing one of the wires on the heater and testing it with an ohmmeter. Or,removing the element and visually inspecting it.

Thanks

Maytag dryer: pye2300ayw

yes, it will. you should be able to take off the panel on the bottom of the front of the dryer. way in the back is the heating element. do not put your hands in there with the power on, but start the dryer and look in there and you will see if the heating element comes on. it will be like looking inside your toaster.

No heat from dryer

is it 220 volt dryer,if so check the plug at the wall and make sure you have 220,the plug runs off 2 circuit breakers at your electric panel,1 breaker may be no good so your only getting 110 volts to the dryer which will run the dryer but not the heating element
