Question about Music

I have a Wurlitzer Funmaker Organ Model 445 Super Sprite Syntha Solo with an earphone jack under the right corner of the organ keybed. I have lost the original earphones and can't find one to fit into the jack. Do you know what size the jack is?

The jack size is 1/4. I was able to purchase an adapter (1/4 to 1/8) from Best Buy for $3.99. Thanks for your help.

There are only a few sizes of jacks that are likely size in these units.

1/4. 1/8, and 5/32 plugs.

Radio Shack has adapters between almost any sizes.

I do not have one of these units and documentation searches come up empty.

Contact Morelock's Organ Service, Rienzi, MS, United States Phone 601-462-7611. Provide them with the complete model number and expect to pay for a service manual if they have one. Start at the end of the power cord and work towards the amplifier section. You will want to establish that the power supply is working correctly. The light is only an indication that the power cord is getting power to the power switch. If the power supply is providing the correct voltages to the other circuit sections of the organ then you will have to trouble shoot each one separately. Check to make sure the speaker is functional. If it has a headphone jack test it also as it may cut the sound to the speaker out if headphones are plugged in. If it is faulty, sound may not get to the headphones or the speaker. You will also need tools. At least a volt/ohm meter.Remember not to work on the circuits with the power on unless you absolutely know how to do this safely. There are lethal voltages in the power supply.

I bought a Wurlitzer funmaker and after 2 days ALL of the G keys just stopped working. I put that down to bad luck, but I was wondering how I would fix it.

If the unit is under warranty make use of it.

If this is second hand, then open unit and look for a connector or cable that might be ajar.

The keys are often scanned in a matrix so a single wire will kill a particular note.

IF THIS is a tube organ or a vintage unit, is suspect one of the tubes has failed. They often had seperate oscilators for each note of the 12 so a single oscilator being dead will kill a particular note.

Note that often the tubes used are 12AX7, 12AT7, or 12AU7 and these will have TWO heaters glowing in each if they are not burnt out.

The only advice I can give you is to join an organ forum and post asking for a manual. Otherwise you will have to pay for one. The best source I can seem to find is through:http://mitatechs.org/node/385 or here:http://wdgreenhill.com/manu/wurlitzer_a.htm and they don't list a service manual for that model. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: Wurlitzer Digital Home Organ

If you have it apart, look in the area of where the power cord goes in. It would help me if you could mention the model number of the organ. The capacitors are in the same area as a fuse would be. The capacitors smooth and filter the A.C. power after the power goes into the power transformer and is then converted to D.C. to run the components. A fuse could be in the A.C. line or in the D.C. line depending on what it is designed to protect. With a model number we could do a search for a schematic and have a look at the most likely problem spots. The schematics for older analog organs are getting hard to find for free but a newer digital one may be easier. Let me know how you make out. Here is an interesting article that may give you some clues:http://www.theatreorgans.com/hammond/keng/kenhtml/wurlitzer%20organs%20by%20frank%20pugno.htm Here is another link with info:http://www.combo-organ.com/spares_and_repairs.htm#Electrolytics Let me know if this helps.

I have a Casio WK3500 keyboard. How can I reproduce the sound of a Wurlitzer organ?

Try voice 9 in the bank 96. That is for a theater organ type sound. You would need decent sound system to amplify this and to sound anywhere near decent.
