SOURCE: Samsung SPP-2040 Photo Printer

For me, alysse's method worked. The part did not look particularly broken, but was not firmly gripping the shaft. I moved it to where it should have been, tightened it as described, and now the printer works great again.

Are you sure that that cam is not slipping on the shaft?

Only printing 1/2 the image of the selected photo, I have tried changing the printer cartridge but still only prints 1/2 the selected image, any ideas why this is happening?

I am not familiar with that particular printer, but it could be as simple as making sure you have the entire picture selected..but it sounds more like the cartridge is either clogged or there is a setting that needs changed...try aligning the cartridge(s) and printing a test page. (that part is usually under a maintenance or troubleshooting type section) if that turns out fine, then there may be a setting thats off...look at your print settings...you may have a separate section just for printing photos...even if you don't, look at your page setup.. look specifically at the margin settings...that might be where the problem lies..you can always play with the margin settings- i would recommend saving them under a custom setting if you want to keep them, instead of default though...that way you have your regular settings for general printing... and do a "print preview"...that might be a good idea anyway, so you wont have to waste ink and paper trying to get your stuff to turn out how you want it (plus that will show you if margins are set right)...for that, there should be a checkmark box you can select to always do print previews...
also, look to see if you have a selection or checkmark box that says "fit to page" or where you can select how many copies you can print per page..this can be used for everyday printing, as well as for photos...
you may even see a spot where you can select the size of photo to print...usually you can pick to print "wallet size or 4x6, ete." and how many to print on a single page...maybe even multiple sizes per page...these are several options for you to look at...hope it helps :)

The rollers in my samsung spp-2020 are sticking

On most printers there's a "thing" near the rollers that grabs the paper. It's usually a flat piece of plastic with some kind of stuff on it that grips the paper. It's actually on the out bound side of the printer. You can re-glue the pad by super glue if the part isn't available.

Print only 50% of one complete picture

If this is actually a printer issue I suspect it's a memory problem. There should be a setting to print data "raw" without caching, or "as you go"...I can't remember the exact wording. Either way, if your not buffering the jobs and the problem is memory, that should slow it down but will fix it. If it doesn't, I would suggest you look at what your trying to print, because it is most likely related to what your printing and not how. Like the previous job not sending a carriage return, indicating a form feed, or some other oddity.

Samsung SPP-2020

You need to get the exact photo paper for this model.
The ones that comes with the flaps on each ends.
Without the flaps, the printer won't print.

Print problem spp-2040

This may be caused by a broken plastic lever for the thermal head inside the printer. This is not particularly difficult to fix, but it not be attempted if you have more than two thumbs.
  • The case is not difficult to open, nor is removing the pc board in the printer, but I suggest getting a service manual on the web for disassembly instructions. Reconnecting the LCD cable is painful. Search for "SPP-2040 service manual."
  • Remove the printer assembly from the case.
  • Remove the PC card from the printer assembly being very careful of the cables.
  • From the top, look at the shaft that controls the up/down motion of the thermal head. At the end opposite the motor, inspect the white plastic lever. There should be no cracks evident, nor should the lever be "loose" with respect to the shaft. If this is not the case, this is not your problem. There is a "flat" on the shaft that should keep the lever from rotating.

  • Remove the "upper plate." Two small screws and a spring at the opposite end.
  • Rotate the lever so that it aligns with the "flat."
  • Using small buss wire (or a paper clip), wrap the wire around the round part of the lever.

  • Twist the ends of the wire tightly and as close to the lever as possible. There is not a lot of space here. Trim off the excess wire and position the wire as shown.

  • Reassemble the top plate & spring.
  • Reassemble the printer & test.
Hope that this has helped. al
