Question about Motorola 2 Pin Adapter 2-Way Radio

2 Answers

Hello all, I have Motorola Distance dps radios. Granddaughter purchased "Element" brand h-250 handsets with 2 pin attachement. Unfortunately, the handset 2 pin will not marry up or attache with the two pin outlets on the radios. Off by just a hair. Bless her little heart, my granddaughter did not read compailibity specs prior to her order. My question, is there a 2 pin to 2 pin straight adapter out there? I just need to make up for that slight difference. I have spent hours looking online, and all I have found is 1 pin to 2 pin adapters. Please help me.

Thanks for that last tip, but I checked Amazon and E-bay and could not locate a 2 pin to 2 pin adapter. Lots and lots of those 1-2 pin types.

Hello,

If you are able to tolerate the additional cable length, consider extending the plugs on the male part of the connector. Create "extension" cables using small coax, perhaps even lamp cord if noise isn't an issue. Use a female connector on one end (that the headset plugs into), and a male connector on the other end (that plugs into the radio). Do this for each pin on the headset connector.

You might try a local electronics dealer, Radio Shack or equivalent, as they might have these cables for sale. Just make sure that the cables you get (or make) are wired straight through (barrel to barrel on the Male to Female side, and etc), and not reversed. This might be the better option since those kind of extensions are made with a coaxial cable and is more resistance to noise.

A very remote alternative might be to heat the connector using a medium temperature heat source (perhaps hair dryer), and once the plastic become pliable, you might be able to spread the pins apart the minute amount that is needed. Once you have the pins where you need them, leave the connector plugged into the radio as the plastic cools to make sure the spacing doesn't change while the plastic hardens again.

Other than the alignment, make sure that the headset that you have is electrically the same as the headset that is appropriate for your particular radio.

Need battery tray for motorola sport 10 x

Unfortunately, the battery trays for this Sport 10X radio, Sport 7X and the later model TalkAbout Distance DPS are no longer available. In our repair facility we often get requests for these battery trays, and as a dealer we have not been able to get them for several years. Your best option is finding a used parts radio somewhere like ebay. In some instances the original tray can be fixed if you still have it.
Best regards.

How do I find a replacement back panel for my Motorola 5700 talk about. Need 2.

Parts for the small size TalkAbout line of radios were never offered to dealers, other than batteries, chargers and accessories. Your best option is to purchase a used radio from ebay to scalp for parts, or possibly by contacting a vendor such as www.wirelesspro.com, who deals in lots of the smaller TalkAbout radios. They may have some which have been scrapped for parts.

The larger TalkAbout line of radios, such as the TalkAbout Distance and Distance DPS are repairable radios, and many parts for them are still available.

Best regards.

I have an older model Motorola sport 10X radio that has two pin connection. I tried several of the Motorola two pin accessories but the pins are too far apart. Are there any adapters available?

You might try contacting the people at http://www.wirelesspro.com/. They seem to have a variety of accessories for the Motorola Spirit and TalkAbout line of radios. The Sport 10X was a predecessor to the TalkAbout Distance DPS.

Otherwise, you might check with your local Radio Shack. It is possible they might have a 1-pin device which might work with the Sport 10X. On some audio devices the second pin is only for stability. The main thing which would make a difference is size, length and placement of rings.

Best regards.

Motorola Talk About distance dps battery tray bad. Where might i locate another b tray. THANKS! MODEL P24SRY03G2AA

Unfortunately replacement battery trays (both alkaline and rechargeable NiCd type) for the TalkABout Distance and Distance DPS have not been available for several years. We have had some success in repairing existing trays, here in the repair shop, if the damage is not too severe. As for a source, you might watch ebay for another unit for parts, or replacing your existing radio. Be certain to quiz the seller on the condition of the battery tray.

Best regards.

Need battery tray for motorola dps radio

[This is not a solution, but a commentary on the need for a tray. Please do not rate this post, as it is meant for informational purposes only.]

This is more common that you might think. The battery trays (both 6-AA Alkaline and NiCd rechargeable-style) have not been available for a few years from Motorola. From a nationwide repair center perspective, we find some damaged trays can be repaired, and some owners find a "parts radio" from sources such as ebay.

For those of you reading this posting which have the TalkAbout Distance or Distance DPS, let this please be a reminder to take care of your trays. Once the tray is gone, the radio is not functional, nor can it be repaired.

Best wishes on your search and please post back if you do find one.

Best regards.

How to charge battery in Motorola Talkabout Distance DPS

You can obtain a wall adapter style charger for your radio at your local Motorola dealer, or online at http://www.eradiostore.com/cart/index.php?target=products&mode=search&subcats=Y&type=extended&avail=Y&pshort=Y&pfull=Y&pname=Y&epcode=Y&q=htn8232

Sidenote: The rechargeable battery is good for about 2 to 3 years. You can tell the age of your battery by looking at the date code on the back of the battery above the stop sign. The first number is the year, the next two numbers are the week of the year. 915 would be 2009 the 15th week. (Or if very old it could be 1999 the 15th week.) A good battery, when charged will go an 8-10 hour day.

Keep both of your charge trays, replacements for these are no longer available.

Motorola talkabout distance dps

Hello,
You can change the squelch setting with the user buttons, You could set a PL or DPL but the other radio's that you talk to will need the same setting.
Go here for the manual:

can you check the PL or DPL setting on the radio that is all stadic when you receive a call?

The radio is going into monitor mode after a call is received. This is most often a PL or DPL issue.
