Saeco Odea. Go get ready to make coffee but when I press button to make coffee, ground grains and filter lights flashes alternatively?

Hello! When the ground grains and filter lights on your Saeco Odea coffee machine are flashing alternatively, it usually indicates an issue with the brewing unit or the coffee grounds. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
  1. Check the coffee grounds: Open the machine's front door and remove the brew group. Check the coffee grounds container to ensure it is not full or clogged. Clean out any excess coffee grounds and ensure that the container is properly inserted.
  2. Clean the brew group: Thoroughly clean the brew group and its components according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pay special attention to the coffee chute, coffee funnel, and the area where the brew group attaches to the machine. Ensure there are no coffee grounds or debris obstructing the mechanisms.
  3. Check the water reservoir: Ensure that the water reservoir is filled with enough water and properly inserted into the machine. Sometimes a low water level can trigger error signals.
  4. Restart the machine: After cleaning and checking all the necessary components, close the front door securely and turn the machine off and then on again. This may reset the error condition.
  5. Descale the machine: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to descale the machine. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for descaling your specific model of Saeco Odea.
If the problem persists after performing these steps, it may be necessary to contact Saeco customer support or a qualified technician for further assistance. They will be able to provide more specific guidance based on the model and the nature of the issue you're experiencing.

I am house sitting and do not know where Delonghi Perfecta Cap. machine's grounds container is located? indicator says to empty now...

Hello, Jean -

Delonghi makes a number of different cappuccino machines. If you had stated the model number of the machine, I probably could have found you the manual for the homeowner's machine online.

I found a user's manual for the Delonghi ESAM5500. The manual has an illustration which shows where the grounds container for that machine is located. If the homeowner's cappuccino machine is not an ESAM5500, the grounds container for their machine may be in a similar location.

This is the link to the user manual for the Delonghi ESAM5500:
http://kavegepbolt.hu/shop_ordered/9160/pic/Saeco/DELONGHIESAM5500.pdf
It is a PDF document, so you will need Adobe Reader software (free).

Page 17 of the manual talks about how to clean the machine, including cleaning the grounds container. In the instructions part A9 (which is illustrated on Page 3 of the manual) is identified as the grounds container.

Just to be sure, if you can contact the homeowners, do so and ask them where the manual for their cappuccino machine manual is located, so you can refer to it and so that you do not accidentally damage the machine.

Best wishes.

Grounds container indicator light stays on, grounds container is in place

I have the same problem as this after cleaning. The machine won't power on. It does a power on self test and then the grounds tray full or missing light comes on and nothing else can be done.

A friend of mine with a similar machine says hers fixed itself after a while so assume some sensor got jammed/obscured with my over zealous cleaning. However I'm not hopeful. Might try taking it apart.

Delonghi Magnifica Light B12 in manual states that

I had a problem where the machine would not operate and the water and grounds lights were on steady (red). After contacting customer support, they directed me to do a reset. This is done by disconnecting the power and holding down the ground coffee and decalcification buttons while reconnecting power. Then release the buttons and power on the unit. This revived my Magnifica from the dead, maybe it will work for you...

Cant remember how to de scale

Instructions per De'Longhi:

10.3 DESCALING
Due to the continuous heating of the water used to make the coffee, over time it is normal for the tubing inside the machine to fill with lime scale. When the light starts flashing, it is time to descale the machine.
NOTE: when the light switches on, the coffee maker can still be used to prepare coffee.
Proceed as follows:
• Empty the tank and pour in the contents of one bottle (125 ml) of DURGOL descaler plus one liter of water. For subsequent descaling operations, descaling solution can be purchased from authorized technical service centers.
Note: Make sure splashes of descaler do not fall onto surfaces sensitive to acid such as marble, limestone and granite.
• place a container with a minimum capacity of 34 oz. under the
cappuccino frother;
• turn the machine on by pressing the button.
• wait for the green and indicator lights to come on steady.
• press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds. The decalcification warning light will illuminate to indicated the start of the descaling program (the and lights remain off to indicate that it is not possible to make coffee).
• turn the steam knob half a turn counter-clockwise. The
descaling solution will come out of the cappuccino frother and start to fill the container underneath.
• the descaling program automatically performs a series of deliveries and pauses, so as to remove the lime scale deposits from inside the coffee maker.
• after around 30 minutes, when the light comes on, turn the steam knob half a turn clockwise until it stops.
The machine must be rinsed so as to eliminate the residues of descaling solution from inside the machine. Proceed as follows:
• remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it with clean water.
• reposition the tank.
• empty the collection container (located under the milk frother) that is full of liquid, and then replace it under the milk frother.
• turn the steam knob half a turn counter-clockwise. Hot water will come out of the milk frother and fill the container underneath.
• when the tank is empty, the indicator light goes off and another light (looks like a pitcher pouring water) comes on.
• turn the steam knob all the way clockwise and fill the water
tank with clean water again.
• the program of descaling is now terminated and the machine is
ready to make coffee again.
NOTE: if the descaling procedure is interrupted before completion, the alarm is not deactivated and the procedure
must be started again form the beginning.
IMPORTANT: FAILURE TO DESCALE THE APPLIANCE REGULARLY INVALIDATES THE WARRANTY.

Helpful tips:
Descaling products are widely available from stores that sell coffeemakers and espresso machines. Be sure that the product you buy to descale your Espresso machine is intended for this specific use only. Before you descale your Espresso machine, always unplug it and make sure that it is cold. Also, never immerse the appliance in water or use abrasive cleaning products/scouring materials on any part of your espresso machine.

How do I get the water heater to turn back on after the descaling.

The Palazzo is programmed to descale the boilers on its own, when set in the correct mode. You program the machine to descale it’s self, do the following. With the machine turned on, push and hold the left 2 buttons (clean and pre-ground). This should light the top right red indicator light. Mix your descaling crystals in 32 to 48 oz in your water tank. Stir until they are completely dissolved in the water. Next, have a container that can handle about 2 quarts of water under the steam wand, or have the machine positioned next to a sink. Next open the steam knob on the right side of the machine. You should hear the pump turn on and pump about 2 to 3 oz’s. of water through the wand into the container. The pump should turn off and there will be a wait of about 2 minutes. The pump should turn on again and more water will come out. It will do this until it has completely drained the water tank. Do not interrupt this cycle until the machine has stopped on its own. When it does stop, all lights on the bottom will flash. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water. Place the water tank on the machine again, and then close, and then open the steam knob again and let the water just flow through the boilers until it is emptied by the machine. Don’t turn off anything until the machine stops on its own. This will clear the descale light. You will have a steady red light and the green light will be blinking. Refill the water tank again with fresh water, close then open the steam knob, this will clear the red light and your ready to go.
