My Kenmore dryer runs for for ten minutes then shuts off. It also pops the circuit breaker. The drawer runs fine and then just turns off. Heats up. Lint is all clear, but don't know why it shuts off?

Blowing breaker

hi. I can help you.

Electric dryers use 220 volts or two power lines of 110 volts each. Some components in the dryer need only 110 volts; the heating element requires 220 volts. So it's possible for one part of the dryer to be fine and another part to have a short circuit. Short circuits can be caused by the heating element, the main power cord, or any other part of the internal wiring. To decide where the problem lies, unplug the dryer, then:

  • If the circuit breakers or fuses remain on and/or intact when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the dryer. Contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • If the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit box. Contact a qualified electrician.

I'm thinking the thermostat has failed, it get's too hot and the emergency over temp sensor kills the flame before a fire is started.

Kenmore 70 series dryer shuts off and won't restart

IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE MOTOR IS OVERHEATING AND SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY THING ON THE DRYER THAT WOULD SHUT IT OFF AND NOT ALLOW IT TO START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY, BUT LET IT START AFTER A WHILE. MAKE SURE THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY. IT SHOULD NOT DRAG OR HUMM WHEN TRYING TO START.

My kenmore gas dryer heats up but cools down too fast without completely drying my cloths

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Kenmore dryer

first dryer should be on circuit by itself..if dryers runs ok for a while before tripping breaker call electrican to change breaker..change it not ck it ..too many times had electricans tell cust breaker ckd ok but after explaining to cust a breaker can not be ck without load they had breaker changed and solved problem ..not just old breaker but even new ones can cause problems..if breaker kicks as soon as dryer is turned on ck wiring at connection where ac is connected very seldom does any other issues with dryer cause immediate tripping of breaker

Dryer runs & heats but shuts off after 3-10 minutes

the motor overload can caouse that problem in that case new motor is needed if the dryer turn right back on after it turns off the even heat control board in panel bad if it humms are no noise after turn off and you have to let cool down the motor is the problem

Dryer

dryers take a lot of power to run.the circuit is tripping because it cannot take the load of the dryer.you may have to get a dryer line installed.check the value on the circuit breaker.u need to use twice that value on the dryer.with clothes added to the dryer the motor takes more current to spin.this extra current is greater than the circuit breaker value so it trips to prevent the house wire from going on fire.
