NEEDS A NEW BATTERY WHAT TYPE OF BATTERY

The fx-250HC uses two standard AA batteries. You may use either rechargeables or disposables, but make sure the two batteries are of the same type and vintage.

My calculator is stuck in a mode and I want to get it out of that mode

Change the mode then. The default is the COMP or general computational mode. Read the manual to understand how to change modes, or take the time to specify which mode you want to get out of.

I can't get the calculator out of the exponent mode. ex. It gives me 7 -03 rather than .007.

Hi,
You must change the number display to FIX. Press [MODE][7:] followed by a number betwee 0 and 7. This will set the number of decimal digits. Be warned that the Indicator FIX will be displayed on the screen.
This information is for the FX250D, but I trust it is also valid for the FX-250HC. If it is not, just look in your manual. If you cannot find yours, do not blame me, I cannot get hold of a manual for this calculator.

You can always take the time to play with the [MODE] key followed by [.] or a number. When you press the mode + number, look on the screen to see what indicator appears (deg, Fix, Rad) The one that makes FIX appaear is the one that gets you out of the exponential scientific mode.

Good luck
