Question about Xerox Phaser 6180N Laser Printer

My Phaser 6180MFP makes a horrible squeaking sound. It does it during printing and during calibration. It is a very high pitch squeaking that commences with the print engine start. It does not seem to be the paper pick up mechanism.

SOURCE: Xerox Phaser 6180MFP i have replaced toners

Supposedly the 6180MFP allows the user to select a non-genuine mode (select "Non-Xerox Toner" on the maintenance menu). This option is listed on page 9-18 of the User Guide, and I think it's the same as the Non-Genuine mode described on page 1-38 of the Service Manual. However, when I actually look for this option on my printer it doesn't appear to be present. Maybe Xerox removed it and didn't update the documentation? Anyone else know about this setting?

SOURCE: Phaser 6180MFP has error code

Hi, the error code you mention suggests you are able to print a start page but still the error is constantly displayed on the device.
This error is related to a failure on the Fax module, originated by a possible corrupted job on the device memory.
3 Ways to solve this.

  1. Unplug the device from the power cord and leave it for around 10 minutes. Then plug the power cord back on. This will allow the memory to clean.
  2. Clean the memory. Before you do that print a configuration report to ensure you keep all configuration data, such as network information. On the front panel navigate to System > Admin Menu >Maintenance > Initialize NVM. Be aware this procedure might erase your network configuration. therefore is important to print the configuration report previously
  3. The same steps taken in Step2 will be required but done on a Diagnostic menu. For this I would advise you to contact Xerox to get an onsite visit.

Fax confirmation sheet on a Xerox Phaser 6180MFP


Not quite sure what you mean here, it can be switched either on or off within the internal settings. Normally the default would be off in a large office due to wasted pages, but in "print for pay" a customer has a receipt that the fax had arrived at it's destination.

Will not print in color

If the machine will copy in color it should print in color.
After verifying that it will copy in color, verify your driver is capable of being switched from black and white to color. If there are no color settings then you have the wrong driver. The link above will take you to the support page where you can download new drivers.

Xerox Phaser 4510 - While printing it makes a squeaking noise


One of two things. The fuser bearings get noisy in those.
Or there are several small hard plastic rollers on steel shafts or even mounted on springs they they can get very noisy.

Before attempting to resolve the error 133. -290, print a copy of the configuration report on the copier / fax. Use the navigation on the front panel to access the configuration menu to get the impression. Review printing to make sure it understands the network settings. This is a protection against configuration settings being lost when you troubleshoot.
Clearing Memory reset the memory of the Xerox Phaser 6180MFP, Dell 3110cn or Dell Machine 3115cn to erase the stored contents and eliminate corrupted data. Disconnect the analog line and power cord from the printer. Wait at least 10 minutes. Then reconnect the analog line and the power cord. As the machine starts, press the "All Clear" "Stop" buttons to prevent automatic printing of the status page. Check the error display panel 133 to 290 times the machine is fully initialized.

High pitched whining


Sounds like a tube TV . If so I believe the tube is cracked not hard to do during moving Ive done it before. it can be replaced for around 125$ to 200$ look at how much your TV is worth and if it does not exceed the value of you unit . Then locate a repair shop in the yellow pages.
