Hey!

If you are still encountering the problem charging your laptop's battery, it is possible that the port where you connect the adapter or the port for the battery is damaged. It will still receive power but it won't charge.

Best solution is to replace the motherboard. Just make sure you would get the exact same devices on a replacement board.

Hope this helps! :D

Will keeping the ac plug connected kill my battery on Dell latitude d610?

I will suggest you to use laptop after it is full charge by removing the charger . when ever you feel battery is down then you can plug in the charger and keep using it, and when ever you see battery is full then remove the charger.
I'll not suggest you keep plugged in the charger when you are done, this way it can effect your Battery. and yes your battery can die with in a year if you are not follwing the correct way to use it.

Hi! My Dell D610 doesn't charge the battery. When I plug the charger without a batt, the system powers on but the batt doesn't get charged when attached. Help me solve this problem pls.

1. Install and update the system BIOS:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D610&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Note: Make sure that both the ac adapter and the battery are attached to the notebook. Follow on-screen instructions on how to flash the BIOS.

2. If Dell QuickSet is installed, press <Fn><F3> to display the QuickSet Battery Meter. The Battery Meter displays status, battery health, charge level, and charge completion time for the battery in your computer. If battery health says that the battery is degraded and needs replacement, then you may need to replace your battery.

Dell lattitude d610 notebook wont power up. Got new battery yesterday, worked fine. Shut it down & now it wont power back up & yes the battery is fully charged.

Take the battery out (1 screw in the bottom of the case, then it pops out with the tab) and attach the power adapter, and see if it boots up now. If it does, you have a problem with your battery.

Did you have this problem before the new battery?

My Dell latitude d610 charging circuit not working on board

What needs to be done is the jack that your adaptor plugs into has solder points underneath it. All the solder points need to be resoldered to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder that are preventing the jack from charging your battery.

After this is done if the laptop still isn't charging then if you know for sure your using the correct ac adaptor with your laptop then at that point the moterboard would have to be replaced.

My Dell Latitude D610 Battery Stopped Working

The battery light flashing RED/AMber is an indication of a failed battery.

Portable batteries have a life expectancy of 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles. (roughly 18 months under normal use) After that, the charge life starts to drop off and eventually it will not hold a charge. Because of this, the battery is considered a consumable item and is only warranted for one year from the manufacturer.

Since all the systems listed in the post are D610's (4 to 5 years old) it is not surprising that the batteries are failing.

Dropped Puck, if you replace the battery and a new battery doesn't charge/run the system, then the charging circuit on the MB is failed.

Battery stopped working

Hey,

Test your charger, the battery light blinking and the computer not starting up indicates not enough power to start up or not pluged into ac power, check the power adapter or charger. I suspect the battery is fine.

Thanks,
Ekse

Power for battery on DELL laptop Latitude D610 as posted FixYa

In the BIOS, does it show the battery and it's current state? As weird as it sounds, I've fixed an issue like this on a D600 by updating the BIOS to the most current level. Weird, but true.

I have a dell lattitude d610 that it wont turn on at all i already check voltage on the charger it gave me 18 volts and battery is fully charge when i plug it nothing turn on neither lights does this...

Laptops are notorious for having the adapter plug come loose from the motherboard although, most laptops will power off of the battery if this happens (if the battery has a good charge). Some laptops have a DC power board that can burn out. Or in some cases, It can be the power button bar. If you are not comfortable trying to repair it yourself, I suggest taking it to a reputable repair shop but it will probably cost you quite a bit to get it fixed. If you know someone who does this type of repair you might check with them.

Dell d610 latitude wont charge new battery

Hey,
First off, do you have a way to check the output of the ac adapter to ensure it's putting out the correct current?
If you've done that and have a multimeter handy, you can remove the battery, system off, and check the charge pins for current/voltage. I believe one of the end pins is neg (ground) and at least one of the other pins should show 2.6-3.6V, as well as other various voltages. If you fail to get any response at the charger pins, we'll need to look at the board circuitry, assuming again that the ac adapter is operating properly.
Good luck
