Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Crooked camera lens

Camera got dropped, lens got pushed in on one side? If you can straighten it yourself by pulling it out straight on that side, it might work perfectly afterwards.

Yes, but its much better to just buy another cheap camera. Repair people charge an outrageous fee for shipping and information retrieval because you might lose your pictures if they are not on a memory card. Look for deals online and at your store, when I was browsing walmart I found a later brand of a kodak for just 100 USD!

If you are asking if you can fix it yourself, its hard to say. I'm not an expert in camera repair but I figure you would have to remove the outer plastic ring for the lens and replace it, but in doing this you could possibly damage the camera more if you aren't experienced.

NO OPEN THE LEN WHAT CAN I DO, THE CAMERA IS FALLEN AND THEN ONLY STAR UP AND APPEAR THE MESSAGE *LENS ERROR 16

Lens error 16 means the lens has popped out of its tracks internally. This happens if the lens is out when the camera is dropped. Most require a new lens. If the lens is crooked, it is possible to straighten it sometimes. See the picture.d40ff78.jpg
Attempting to straighten the lens can break it but rarely makes things worse.
If the lens is jammed in, not much can be done without a technician.

Camera has jammed with the lens extended

If the lens on the camera is stuck out, look to see if it's a little crooked. If it is, try to gently straighten it. If it still won't retract, try to gently push it in as you turn the power on.

Camera dropped, lens won't retract or expand

Sounds like the lens got bent out of alignment. Call Canon at 1-800-828-4040. They are really good with their support with or without warranty. You can send it in for repair or ask for the Canon loyalty Program. You trade in your broken camera and they'll give you a newer model for an incredible price.

Dropped camera. lens open and crooked

Sorry to say you have broken the lens, replacement of the lens is the only practical repair and if you cant swap one yourself from a dead camera it would be beyond economical repair.
If you are adventurous you could buy a faulty one of ebay and swap the lens or if the faulty one has a broken screen or mode dial swap yours over to the faulty one..
there are a couple of "tricks" do getting this camera open drop me a line if you decide to proceed...

best of luck

HELP

This happened to me once. SOMETIMES you can correct this yourself. The lens must be extending from the camera at EXACTLY 90 degrees if the lens is crooked, then straighten it, gently! If you succeed, the lens may retract as it is supposed to. You could also futher damage it with this procedure, so THINK ABOUT IT FIRST.

Dropped Camera.

The lens motor mechanism is very fragile and will stoppworkin even if you look at it too hard let alone drop it.
The cost of repair will be high - best bet is to write it off[are you insured against accidental damage?]Check out the manufacturer off course.
