Look for ALL the filters. You may be suprised that most cyclonic vacuums have 3 filters. These get clogged up quickly and when that happens the cyclonic action stops completely. Look under the clear cyclone dirt catcher, there is usually a dust filter there and it gets stopped up real easy. Look at the back of the machine, there is usually one back there too. Check the hose going into the vacuum cleaner as well. In short, follow the hoses in the same way the dirt would follow them. Somewhere along the path, there is a stopped up filter. I do this everywhere I go. Nobody ever cleans these things out.

Dyson dc 40 loses suction

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty the it. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris.
Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it.
Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum.

My Eureka 5892 BVZ-1 vaccum has very little suction. I checked hoes and emptied cup, and made sure filter is not dusty.

There are probably three filters, one on the back of the dust collection bin, one under the dust collection bin, and one where the air exits the vacuum, check all three.

Can't find booklet. Need to empty full container. Thanks.

Remove the dust cup by pressing the button on the top of the cup.
Pull cup out.
Place over garbage can or into a bag and press the red button.
Shake a bit until cup is empty.
Return cup to holder and secure it by pressing in until it clicks.

The manual is located at the following link. It's downloadable and printable. Emptying instructions are on page 8.

What causes a vacuum to make lots of dust and throw back out what it vacuumed

It sounds like the airducts that lead to your dirt chamber are clogged. The dirt can't get through to the dirt cup so it spits it back out and blows dust everywhere.

Debris in front of foam filter

when that happened to me it was because the cup got full or was loose. I am now seeing the cup seal, located on the body above the cup, is not sealing and my filter is loaded. That might be a clue.

Upper Filter gets clogged quickly

You may have to replace the filters, air maybe restricted going thru them. The main filter is part #73494, and the foam #74038. Also make sure the SLINGER/CYCLONE ASSY part #74068 isn't clogged up.
