Question about Hotpoint NVL333EY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Okay my dryer has been popping the CB for the last three days, I through it was the two thermostat's were replaced. Ran the dryer ops checked normal, now when I put a load of wet clothes in it runs for about two minutes then the CB pops. I think it may be motor or motor form t switch or both? By putting a load on the motor it heats up too much and putting a large load on the circuit might cause the problem? Can you please help Thanks?

Dryer wouldn't work last week. Found the Thermal Fuse with no continuity and replaced it. After drying one load of clothes yesterday, dryer won't work again. I suspect the thermal fuse again. What else ...

Or your breaker. The dryer will work just won't heat with the thermal cutoffs or element or the breaker. Dryer won't do anything if the thermal fuse is bad. You might also want to check the outlet from L1 to N and L2 to N for 110 on each side. Good luck.

Just got the unit from a friend and had to change the plugs from four to three and it turns on but there is no heat. the dryer is less than a year old and worked three days ago.

the only difference is the 4 prong has a ground wire,if you put the white in the middle, the red where it was before on one side and the black on the other side it should work.check the back of the dryer to make sure you have the correct voltage, with a meter set on volts, touch the white and red wire and you should have 110,then touch the white and black and you should have 110.if not you have a problem with a fuse in the house.one fuse runs the dryer and another is for heat but if you have 220 or 240 in the back of dryer something is blown in the dryer.you'll need to check out the thermostats and the heater in the dryer.let me know what you find.your vent line could be clogged with lint and popped the high limit thermostat on the heater box

Just bought a new HE5 dryer three days ago and used it for the first time---the sides of the HE5 dryer are extremely hot (could burn hand), is that normal and what could be the cause?

check the vent line, could be clogged with lint if you never cleaned it,you should clean out your dryer every year by taking off and cleaning out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside of dryer and clean out the vent line,if it's a long run from the wall to the outside vent hood blow it out with a leaf blower,go outside and make sure the air is blowing out with force, all a dryer does is move air and if something is blocking the air flow the dryer will get hot, you'll start blowing thermostats or the thermal fuse because they are safety switches so if the dryer does run to hot they pop and shut down the dryer so hopefully you don't have a fire or damage the dryer

Hotpoint NVL333EY Electric dryer blows thermal fuse

I had the same thing happen, I replaced the thermal cutoff and made sure no lint build up. It lasted a week then blew again. I then replaced it again and got to thinking why it would blow. I then took apart the exaust inside the dryer running fron the drum to the motor and right before the motor was a build up of lint ane particals that was almost like compressed sawdust which was blocking half of the line. I cleaned this out and it seemed to work much better.

Kenmore dryer. 80 series. 6 years old.

There is no reset button on these thermofuses unfortunatly. Sometimes you can have a timer go out and cause a fault in the thermostats, thermofuses, etc. Doesnt happen to often, but it does happen. Be sure before you spend a lot of money, that you thoughly clean and check you dryer vent tubes or pipe. A clogged vent tube will normally cause major league problems (i.e. burned thermofuses, busted elements, out-of-temp thermostats, slow or no drying conditions, etc.). You can replace these yourself pretty easy if you have some hand tools (call Sears to fix and you can buy a new one) and a couple of minutes. Let me know if you want further instructions or help. Good Luck!!!! JIm

Dryer won't dry

There are three possible parts that can cause this.
1. Thermal fuse
2. Thermostat
3. Flame sensor

https://www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts/a8b6d600503/Model-11072212100-Kenmore-Dryer-Parts

You can check the first two with a meter to see if they are ok. If they are then you should replace the flame sensor.
