Hi

Follow the Engine Stop/Brake Cable to the Engine. Remove the Cover at the End of the Cable. Have Someone Operate the Cable and Watch the Lever Move. It Should Connect with the Small Stop Switch When the Bar is Released. The Cable May Need Replacing or the Spring on the Stop/Brake Assembly May be Broken or has Jumped Off.
From under the flyweel comes a wire.Check it.It is connected with the off position of the throttle. The kill switch wire is broken or has come loose. If it is a push mower, look at the end of the throttle cable where it touches ground when the lever is in the OFF position. If it is a riding lawn mower, follow the wires from the ignition switch, you will find a disconnection someplace near ground .

My 26 hp craftsman tractor stalls and won't start when it gets hot

being that would be a twin cylinder engine and has two sep coils does it missfire before it dies?does it have spark when it dies?does it sputter then die like it runs out of gas where the cap vent could be plugged and it vapor locks if you spark carb cleaner or starting fluid the solenoid on the bottom of the carb shutting off that should give you something to start with

18 hp v twin will not run. It is gettng fuel to carb but will not run. It will run when you spray starter fuel in carb but does not continue to run.

There is a solonoid valve in the carburator that shuts off fuel to meet emissions standards. Be sure it is wired to be powered when key is in run position. You can hear a "click" at the carb. when the solonoid powers up.

2004 v twin 16 hp 500hours on it runs but spits fuel throught carb when giving gas runs like its missing on one cylinder replaced carb, plugs, fuel filter, it has 120 lbs of compression in each cylinder...

You should take one of the heads off and look at the valves. You may have deposits building up no the valves.

120 pounds compression sounds pretty good for a six year old engine with 500 hours on it. It probably started life at 9 to 1 and now is around 8 to 1.

My Briggs 18 hp v-twin is starved for fuel. It

A more likely cause is a clogged jet in the carb.

Remove disassemble and clean Carb, the High speed idle jet is clogged.

If you had a fuel pump problem it would not run even in the Choke mode.

This tends to happen when an engine sets for long periods of time with out a fuel inhibitor id is even more likely to happen if you use fuel with ethanol.

Hope this tip helps.

I HAVE A 18HP BRIGGS TWIN CYLINDER AND I NEED TO KNOW WERE THE ADJUSTING SCREWS ARE

On my 18 HP, if you are facing the engine and the flywheel is on the left, the adjusting screws are all under the air breather. The best way to get at them is to take the breather mechanism off right down to the carb. They are all on the left side of the carb!

Engine appears to run normaly until PTO is egaged, then it backfires and quits. Engine is an 18 HP Vanguard twin, model 350777.

Check you float in the carb I had one a few years back and it was partualy plugged cleaned it out and everthing worked fine. Also is the PTO binding up or bearings going bad putting an excessive load on the motor.

Engine starts but won't stay running

an easy way to know that is to start engine and give it a shot of starting fluid ,if you can keep it running by this method I would replace diaphragm.

Need carburetor adjustment

I had a similar problem with my 23 hp briggs. While cleaning the carb I found that the great gas we get today had eaten the seal around one of the jets in the throttle body causing it to fall out. Replaced the jet and now runs like a champ. Hope this helps.
