The original battery it is supposed to work for a longer time.
If it works only for twenty minutes, and you recently bought the camera you should contact the seller and ask a replacement for the camera.

Also try this, take the bottom cabinet off, with the lcd panel facing you and the camera turned upside down and the cassette housing pointing away from you you will see 2 wide gold cables plugged into the right side of the board, realitively the same size, the gold cable that is between the main pcb and the mechanism assy is the control cable pull it our of the connector and clean it with alcohol, you can even take it one step further and evenly trim just a hair of the cable off all the way across just so that it has a new place to set. This has worked for me over 100 times in the past years. Seasoned camcorder technician 13 years experience.
