Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera
The Nikon CoolPix 5700 can support up to 1 GB CF type memory cards, but only of a certain brand. Nikon maintains a list of approved cards - those brands and capacities that have been tested to work 100%. Other cards may work too - but no further testing of memory cards is being done with this model camera.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

I think it should take more that 4G's. Maybe it was the way you inserted the SD card. These Nikons can be a bit funny about such things. So if you haven't already sorted the problem I'd suiggest you turn off the camera. Remove the batteries then remove the 'other' SD card. Then reinsert you bigger capacity SD card then the batteries. Then turn on the camera. It's just like re-booting a windows computer. Hopefully it will come up 'roses'. Cheers

It can if it is compatible, meaining I use the Canon and I have to use the type II cards, it accesses fine.. I wouldn't go to the type IV as I have heard they hang when acquiring pictures.

Your card is way to big for your camera to recognise. I had a similar problem. The way to fix it is to trick your camera into thinking that the card is only 512 MB. To do this you need to partician your memory card. First go to this website and download this quick free program. (IT WONT HURT YOUR COMPUTER) http://www.box.net/shared/griqir68so as soon as it is download unzip it and double click on Windows Enabler. Put your card in your computer - Then go to start, control panel, administrative tools, computer managment, disk managment, and find the memory card. Down by your clock there will be a new icon with three blue and white windows. Click that and the word ON should appear. Then right click on the drive and click delete particion. Click yes and wait a second for the partician to be deleted. As soon as it deleted right click the drive again and click new partician. Follow the on screen instructions. When you get to the screen for you to pick the partician size the last part is grayed out. Just click the last feild and it will turn on. Type in 512 and then hit next. when you get to the screen that asked to quick format, check the option. Once it is finished your card should work with out any problem.

Your camera uses CF type I or II cards. Since it was first introduced in 2002 I believe it has no support for 4GB cards. But since it's a 5MB camera, you can get some 500 frames on one 2GB card. Just need to pack some more of those for a photo-safari.
