Sounds like you may never formatted the memory card in your camera. This is important to setup the needed file handling structure for the camera to use. Insert the card in the camera, and format it IN THE CAMERA using its format feature located in the menus. Note that this will also totally erase the cvard, so only do this if you have recovered or backed up the pictures from the card. If the pictures can't be accessed normally, use recovery software.

When I go to take pics a window comes up saying Card Setup w/ power off and format choices. When I choose format it lets me choose yes: caution erasing all, then Card error comes us. What do I do now?

Hello,

How long have you had this memory card? What you can do is to try and format it first using your computer. And then reformat it again using the camera.

To format from your computer, you should a memory card reader so that you can access the card. After the usual device detection process, locate the drive and then for Windows users, right click it and then hit Format. Accept the default settings but do not forget to check Quick Format. Let the process finish. And then proceed with the formatting process on your camera.

My phone won't format my memory card. Everytime I click yes to format, it comes up error and nothing else. What can I do?

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

    Format error

The reason why is because that particular camera does not support memory cards that big.  Samsung only guarantees compatability up to 512MB, but the max I have ever heard working is 1GB.  If you do buy one, make sure it is a sandisk card as these have been tested and guaranteed to work in that camera.  Lexar may also work, but for sure 4GB is to big and is unsupported.  Hope it helps.  Please dont forget to rate!
