Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I Have a Maytag MAH7500AWW one of the MOV component on the mother board burned and the machine does'nt work anymore. I'm looking for the replacement piece but nobody has it around here, they all told me that I have to change the entire board at the cost of 200$. I don't have that kind of money now, I will prefer to find the piece and have it change by an electronic repairman. Can you tell me where I can find the piece MOV 1

An MOV is a "metal oxide varistor". This is a very common heart of a surge suppressor, which can be used "across the line wires" to prevent harmful voltage spikes from adversely affecting equipment. Most of the time however, an MOV will sit idle in a circuit for years, then one day, it gives its life blocking a voltage spike. You use the equipment the next day like nothing happened. Everything works fine - until the next voltage spike.

Your MOV has already activated, and is no longer able to provide the protection it once had. As a result, the next voltage spike passes unobstructed by the failed MOV into the circuit ruining the circuit.

The problem is that the MOV never told you it failed. Many times, a number of MOVs are installed all at once - each one fails at each subsequent voltage spike. It could take years, decades or more before the last MOV fails - likely long after the warranty is over.

You can probably see that the failed 50 cent MOV isn't the problem any more. It was *before* the circuit failed, but you never knew it had failed. Now, the latest voltage spike fried the circuit and it will require wholesale circuit board replacement or labor intensive troubleshooting to locate and replace all the failed parts on the circuit board.

You're better off buying a used board or an entire used machine until you can fix this one.

I hope this helped you understand about MOVs, and that replacing this part will not restore the machine to working order.

Maytag MAH7500AWW, speed identification error

Can be a number of things on this unit, all of them have been troublesome on the Neptune washers. You may have a rear bearing going bad causing friction, a bad speed board, or a motor issue. If you get in behind the console, there is a tech sheet that you can do all kinds of tests with. Does the machine sound very loud in spin? If so, I would look more into a bearing issue. If not, it will be a motor/board issue. You can't buy the motor without the board anymore because they have updated both to only work with both. Last thing, both repairs are quite costly. If it's a bearing, toss the machine, way to costly. The motor is a little better in price, but not much. I guess it's all in how much a gambling person you are. Do you want to sink that much money into something that is probably going to die out well sooner than later. Just something to think about. Good luck!!!

My Neptune washer MAH7500AWW says that the washer won't lock to work. It does this on and off. How do we fix it?

You may have to change the wax motor (lock) on it. Before you door so though check the board in the control heading for a burn mark on the R34 resistorwhich is located near the middle of the board. If its burnt change both parts out or it will keep doing the same thing.

Why did the Q6 component blow on the circuit board

Hi,

I`m not sure which component you refer to by "Q6", but typically on the Maytag Neptune washer it is the resistors associated with the door lock assembly which burn out on the "machine control board" (not to be confused with the "motor control board" located under the basket/tub inside the cabinet). It should look like the image below.

You can usually examine the control via a visual inspection to confirm or dismiss any damage. Look for any sign of burnt resistor's, specifically one identified as R11 and one as R75 they are both part of the lock circuit and if damaged will prevent the washer from draining and spinning properly because the door lock won't engage. The control will need to be replaced if damaged as will the latch wax motor. (Unless you can identify the value of the resistor`s and take a gamble on a repair)

Check with a local or on-line part depot with your model number for specific part number's. Hope that help's, let me know. Thank's for visiting "fixya" and if this was helpful please leave a rating for the info I provided. Thank's again and good luck. macmarkus :)

Maytag Neptune MAH7500AWW Speed Indication Error - Won't spin up...

Sorry, I cannot solve this. I just wanted to post a couple of useful tips for anyone else out there who happens to be diagnosing their MAH7500AWW.

1. You can put the washing machine into service mode by pressing the <back> and <help> buttons for 5 seconds and then releasing.
2. There is a large folded troubleshooting schematic located under the top console. You have to remove a few screws and lift it up to pull it out.
