Iv put my sim into a LG KP500 and it says usim locked?

It might be that the phone is locked on a certain region. Or most of the time, it is locked on a specific provider. Most celphone repair shops can remove that lock.

Samsung D900 spare phone no serv. provdr wants PUK code

The PUK is associated to SIM card, and not to the phone. Just put a new Orange SIM card on the D900.

If the D900 is locked to Orange and your friend want to use a different SIM on it, that that can instead be done at any local phone shop for a small fee.
