What brand and model of computer do you have. You should be able to see something about system restore in the manual which will be in the CD or the web site of the manufacturer. If you have a Windows CD or Mac Operating System CD, you can boot with it and choose repair or recovery by pressing the R key. If no CD then there might be a hidden partition on your comoputer which you can access for factory default reset by holding down a key when booting.
