Turn the tension knob to the left. Look at your manual and if you cannot find it, go to singerco.com and download it. Do not turn the knob too much each time or you will get it all messed up. Just a small amount each time.

How to thread tension on my L47 singer sewing machine

Threading and tension are two different things.

You can search for a manual:
Make Model manual
or
Make Model threading
(most machines thread similarly so even if you don't find your specific model, the instructions would be helpful)

https://www.manualslib.com/products/Singer-L47-4062252.html

When threading, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot so the thread will seat completely in the tension disk.

For tension, generally start with the tension set at the midway point. Tension is correct when the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric. If the bobbin thread is showing on the fabric top, loosen the top tension. If the top thread is showing on the underside of the fabric, tighten the top tension. Do not adjust the bobbin tension until it has been determined that the top tension does not make the adjustments needed. (Bobbin tension is sensitive--a little change makes a big affect so you will need to know how to reverse any changes you make.)

I am not sure about this particular machine but in most machines there will be a nob on the front loose low numbers like 0 1 -2 work well on number 3. If the nob is not on the front check and see if it is on the side.

Why stitches on top are great but bottom are loose and loopy?

Check your upper threading. Make sure it's between your tension discs. Remember loops on bottom, something is wrong with upper threading/tension. Loops on top something is wrong in the bobbin area (like the bobbin being in upside down or a loose bobbin tension spring)

start by rethreading the top thread with the presser foot UP.

I have a Singer Futura XL 400 the bobbin thread is showing on the top

Tension between top and bottom is a BALANCE, and when the bobbin thread shows on top, it means that your top tension is tighter than your bobbin tension, so it is pulling the bobbin thread up above the fabric.

Loosen the top tension to balance it--it should only take a couple of "ticks"--no more than one number. Loosening the top tension, by the way, is AWAY from the "S".

I am very dissapointed with this machine, i bought it 2 years ago but i have hardly used it as i can never get the tension right and waste too much time trying to do a simple project and always revert back...

Your 9910 is a fantastic machine and offers great value for money. Your tension problems and bobbin problems seems to be related. First remove the two screws on the needle plate and check if your bobbin case sits correctly. It should sit evenly on the rim of the hook-round metal. Turn the hand wheel towards you and the bobbin case should sit perfectly still. If so replace the needle plate and fasten the 2 screws. Next, lift your presser foot and remove all thread from the machine. Re thread your machine with the presser foot still up and the tension dial on "auto". When you get to the point where you are ready to thread the eye of the needle, lower the presser foot and pull down on the thread. You should feel resistance. If not, there may be fluff or other obstruction in the tension disk. If everything is OK, thread the eye of the needle, pick up the bottom thread and sew. Good Luck.

Bottom thread too loose; tried rethreading top thread, cleaning bobbin case, refilling bobbin, changing needle, adjusting top tension

Check for correct bottom thread tension.
It's provided by a flat spring on the bobbin holder.
When the bobbin is correctly installed, pulling on the thread
should meet with slight resistance, and the bobbin should spin without
trying to jump out of the bobbin holder.

My bobbin thread keeps coming to the top of my fabric during embroidering on my Singer Futura CE350, I've tried bobbin embroidery thread, regular embroidery thread and clear nylon thread, I've tried...

With the embroidering, some of the bobbin thread is SUPPOSED to show on the top of your embroidery-the machine isn't doing anything incorrectly. You'll need to thread your bobbin with the same thread as you are using with the top. I had the same "problem" when I first got the machine and took it to a wonderful local technician whose helped me with a lot of things who informed me that this is perfectly normal on embroidery machines.

I would say that it probably is time for a tune up, they are kind of like cars and need to tuned up every so often. Luckily, not as expensive as cars. Good luck
