Totally rethread your machine, and use a new needle. Hope this is the answer for you. If not, call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and they should be able to help, good luck

Upper thread always cuts. Straight stitch doesn't work. The upper thread always cuts. The tension is No. 3. The stitches is adjusted to no, 2. The fabric is thin, soft and Lacey . Please advice.

Be sure to install a brand new needle of the type suitable for the fabric you are sewing.

Use a thread that is suitable for the fabric. If you are sewing fine, light-weight fabric, use a fine thread--avoid old or bargain bin thread. Use the same upper thread in the bobbin.

When threading, always raise the presser foot so the thread will seat properly in the thread tension and verify that the thread path is correct (consult the manual).

Standard tension is usually the midway point between high & low number. The stitch length could be set a little higher than a 2--maybe a 2.25 or 2.5 for light fabric.

Since you are sewing fine fabric, it sometimes helps to use a removable stabilizer to give the fabric some extra body while stitching--perhaps a wash-away stabilizer if the fabric is washable.

Test your machine on scraps of the fabric you will be sewing. Re-adjust the tension as needed. The correct tension is when both upper and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

If the thread continues to break, then there could be a burr or nick somewhere that is catching the thread and causing it to break. Could also be a needle/hook timing issue.

Husqvarna Viking Iris sewing machine keeps beeping and top thread broke icon flashes on display despite being fine. The machine sews fine on slow speeds without issue

Does the thread actually break? The upper thread sensor is normally connected to the check spring that is part of the top thread tension assembly. I would check or have a Viking tech check the tension assembly to see if something is causing the sensor to stop working. It might be a bit of thread or something else.

My Memory Craft 3500 suddenly seems to have no tension in the upper thread. Stitching looks fine on the top, but there are big thread loops on the bottom. Changing the upper tension dial doesn't seem to...

Hello,

It could be a wad of lint in the upper tensioner disks keeping the disks apart. I have also seen on older machines where the thread has actually cut a groove into the disks. If you can dis-assemble the tensioner, clean and inspect. Be very careful to memorize the part order in which you remove the parts, this will help when re-assembling it.

Good Luck,

Bernina 2500DCET serger keeps breaking the centre needle thread for no apparent reason .Already had machine serviced, new needle plate didn't solve anything either. Any ideas

I have found with any serger I have used that you have to cut the looper (bottom) threads before re threading the needle threads. You then rethread the loopers.
If you don't do this, the needle threads keep breaking. Hope this helps.

Brother LS-2125 Upper Thread Snapping

I had the same problem and it was so frustrating! It was happening to me because I wasn't using the right size needle. Go up a couple of needle sizes and see if that helps.
