Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Kenmore Coldspot 106.57372700 Freezer side running, no air in fridge side

Some models have a switch activated by the lower door or fridge door. If the door id open, the fan in the freezer will stop. That switch protrudes or bounce out when the door is open. Check is the switch is faulty. Check temperature setting for the fridge too. There is a fan that takes the cool air and blow it thru the vents to cool the fridge side. If the fan is in the freezer, check the direction of its rotation.
It should be sucking sir from the freezer and blowing out to the fridge vents.

Samsung SRS583 HDP fridge stop working. freezer stopped first and fridge became hot too. wHAT MAY BE THE REASON? And how to fix this?

  • Be sure the fridge is plugged in and getting power. The light should come on when you open the door.
  • Check the thermostat to make sure it hasn't been turned way down by mistake. If your fridge/freezer thermostat isn't working,
  • Be sure the vents on the back of the freezer compartment aren't blocked by boxes of ice cream or frozen vegetables-the vents have to be clear for cold air to circulate.
  • Vacuum the coils under or behind the fridge. Clogged coils can cause poor cooling.
  • Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won't have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. Clean the fan blades and spin the fan by hand to see if it's stuck. Plug in the fridge and make sure the fan runs when the compressor is running. If the fan doesn't run, replace it.

When we shut the fridge door a loud continuous humming noise comes from the fridge. This seems to be activated by the door light switch at the top. Thank you

There are 2 possibilities I can think of for the hum. When you activate that door switch it activates 2 fans and the compressor. There is one fan located on the compressor and one located in the vent system in the fridge. The second fan is used to circulate cool air evenly through the fridge. I would recommend holding your finger on the door switch and listen carefully whether the noise is coming from inside the back of the fridge or from the lower bottom. Lower bottom could indicate compressor cooling fan or compressor. They would need to be inspected. If it sounds more like the other fan mentioned above it would again need to be inspected. The compressor cooling fans can get stuck or become noisy due to bearing failure. The vent fan can get stuck or noisy but also in some cases if the defrost circuit is not working can chock up with ice and create a buzzing noise as the fan blades strike the ice.

Neff fridge/freezer has stopped cooling

pull the unit from the wall, remove the bottom back panel , see if the small fan is working ,if the fan is , there's probally alot of dust back there, unplug the fridg. and vacuum the area real good, use a flash light to make sure you get it all, if the fan is not working and the compressor is running the fan is the problem ,the fan keeps the compressor and coils cool so the freon can cool down so the unit works like it should,if the freon is hot ,the air the fridg.will be blowing will be hot. this should fix your problem, and YES its worth fixing.alittle p.m.saves alot of $$$$$$$$$

Samsung rs2630sh not cooling or freezing

If it has fan to deliver cold air, and it is not working, cold air is stuck on the begining. So your fan could be dead. And I suppose, that compressor is running all the time. Even compressor could stert freezing if fan does not deliver cold air in fridge. The other option is, that there is not enough gas in the compressor. In this case compressor vould not be freezing, but line, going out of compressor has to be hot, if it is not, there is no gas.

The fridge works but the freezer, while cold, does not freeze

Hi, The freezer compartment is (logically) favored for cooling. There is a fan, normally between the back of the freezer compartment and the outside sheet metal that circulates the cooled air from the hidden coils to the refrigerator compartment.
When you hear the compressor is running, look for vents in the back of the refrigerator side and hold some wet fingers in front of these. Under normal circumstances, there should be an easily noticeable flow of air coming from these vents that represents the fridge's share of the cooled air. If there is none or is very little flow, the fan has either slowed (sticky sleeve bearings) or the fan has stopped completely. This isn't a dangerous problem since all modern electric motors are 'impedance protected' meaning that if the motor cannot turn, it still will not get any more than hot, it won't catch fire as they once would.
Thank you!

Fridge sounds like it is running but it wont cool cleaned the dust out of the back and cleaned the filters

Make sure the compressor fan is running. It is probably underneath the unit close to the back.

Have you cleaned the coils? Do they feel extremely hot to the touch?

If the compressor fan stops running, the coils will be very hot because the heat the refrigerant contains is not being released into the air.

Samsung RS2555SL humming noise

don't know this model specifically, but have had loads of problems with these samsung fridge-freezers. the no water in drinks dispensor is probably due to the water bottle at the bottom of the fridge being frozen. this is endemic with samsung the noise you hear is ice hitting fan. samsung use two systems for fan. the one i think you have is separate fans for fridge and freezer and a separate evaperator for fridge and freezer. take of the back plate of the fridge and you will find the fan mounted in it. disconnect the plug and socket connection. you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water. the bar you had showing on the "8" is a fault code - the most common fault being the defrost termination sensor. unless you are experienced, this is not really a diy appliance
