Question about ASUS A8V-E Deluxe Motherboard

1 Answer

The asus a8v-e deluxe motherboard I have will not post not even a post beep of any kind from the speaker.I have checked the power supply, all voltages to mother board are well within tolerance including the four pin 12 volt connection. the cooling fans on power supply as well as the cpu fan runs. absolutely no video on screen. I originally suspected the cpu. I had another identical amd cpu and installed it. No change. I then suspected maybe a memory problem. I have 2 512mb memory sticks I remove one, tried again. No change. I then remove that one and tried the other one by itself. No change. I have remove peripherals one at a time and tried powering on again after each change. No change. By the way I have 30 years experience in electronics, not computers, but do have knowledge of pin out diagrams voltage tolerances schematics etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Yes, hard drive is spinning. Would a bad video card cause no beep from the chasis speaker?

Are the hard disk spinning ?  If yes then you should try another video card, this one appears to have died.

My power supply died (popped), so I replaced it (Antec SL350 with an Antec SL350S). However, when I turned on the switch on the back of the power supply, the motherboard powered up immediately (tower...

If you "popped" the power supply, I would check to see if the RAM might have taken a hit as well. Ram chips and CPU are sensitive when it comes to power surges. I would troubleshoot the system, unplug everything. you need monitor, power, cpu, and ram (1 at a time). Check to see if the system will POST. if you do get it to POST, start with 1 item at a time and see if the system will POST every time. If nothing happens, there is a chance you may have a damaged motherboard or cpu.

I am slowly rebuilding my computer. When I nearly got it finished, and turned it on, it came up with "Windows Was Not Found". Knowing what to do, I turned everything off, unplugged it properly, and...

Check for motherboard. use only 3 parts:

motherboard
PSU
CPU + COOLER

Connect your motherboard to PSU and see, if any LED light comes from motherboard. If LED is on, then try to turn motherboard on and see if cooler works.
Are case wires (power +, power -, hdd +, hdd -, reset+, reset -, power led+, power led - and speaker wire ) connected correctly?
Those wires look like this:

front-panel-headers-nsatmeh50lx5u1woeaeqllmn-4-0.jpgThis image is just reference.
If the power wire (sometimes called POWER SW) is not connected correctly, when you press the power button of case, PC just won't turn on.

If PC turns on and CPU fan spins, then try to add RAM, Graphics card and try again.
Next step is to hear BEEP sound. One short beep sound is normal, anything else is not normal and indicates the problem of the specific hardware according to the sound code. Sound code is BIOS dependent. In case ASUS A8V-E Deluxe, it is Award BIOS. Check below for Award BIOS beep codes

1 long, 2 shortIndicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information

1 long, 3 shortVideo card not detected __ (reseat video card) or bad video card

Beeps repeating endlessly __ RAM problem.

Repeated high frequency beeps while PC is running __Overheating processor (CPU)

Repeated beeps alternating high & low frequency ___Issue with the processor (CPU), possibly damaged

Can I use a Amd athlon 64x2 dual core processor 4200+ 2.2 ghz on my A8V deluxe motherboard . socket 939

Hi,

Yes, according to the Asus website specifications on the A8V Deluxe you are able to run the CPU. You just have to make sure that the CPU you buy is for Socket 939 and not AM2.

Please rate!

Asus A8V-E not start

Looking at this post, I think your Motherboard is bad.
Have you tried a different Video Card?
My other thought is the CPU is overheating due to incorrect seating of the FAN and heat sink.
Try cleaning the CPU off, and put new paste on the CPU, then re-seat the heat sink.
Be careful to make sure the anchors are pushed all the way down by slightly twisting or wiggling the heat sink.
Check for looseness.
Push down on all memory sticks to ensure they are seated all the way in.
They should click on both sides.
If it still gives you a red light, then contact the website of the manufacturer, and get an RMA number for a replacement.

Hi,

Initially, pls :
  • check/replace IDE cable used;
  • check power connector;
  • verify master/slave jumper setting;
  • reset CMOS/BIOS to default;
  • change motherboard IDE connection from IDE1 to IDE2 or vice versa;
  • try as a standalone, temporarily remove any other IDE device such as the DVD/CD.
If all else fails and thee HDD works/checks OK in other machines, you may need to update the BIOS of the Asus A8V deluxe. Pls start here. Click on "DOWNLOAD", on the :Input Model to Search" type A8V, in Select Category, choose BIOS, click on Search Info button, follow on screen instructions

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
