The viewfinder framing and focus point is an LCD overlay in the viewfinder. As the battery is fine, then either the LCD overlay has failed or an internal connector to it has become dislodged.

You're on a hiding to nothing with this fault as parts are definitely no longer available and no professional repairer will touch it with a bargepole as anything they do is likely to far exceed the camera value and the chances of a repair are low.

All you can do is to open the camera top and to try and locate the fault. If it's a loose connector then you can reseat it, but if it's anything else then you need to decide whether to live with the fault or to replace the camera. I have been unable to locate a free schematic download nor any repair manuals for your camera: they never sold in huge numbers and were never intended to have major repairs, so unless you wish to look further for paid-for manuals then you'll have to work out the repair sequence for yourself. I haven't worked on a GR1 for about ten years so cannot recall how to dismantle one, sorry.

D200 autofocus My Nikon D200 is amazing. Most of the time, i keep it set like a simple point and shoot, but i find the ability to move the focus fields across the lens to be invaluable. unfortunately,...

Can you check that you haven't moved the little toggle switch on the side of the 4-way controller/wheel to the L (or Lock) position? If it's locked then you won't be able to move the focus field in the viewfinder.

The electronic viewfinder will not focus. Photo results, however, are properly focused. LCD properly focuses, but I prefer to frame my pics using viewfinder. What's the fix?

There's a diopter adjustment control near the viewfinder. Adjust it while peering through the viewfinder until the image suits your eyes.

Appears in focus in viewfinder, but isn't

Change your focusing setting to spot focus. Then, focus on your main subject, keep the button half-way pressed while you re-compose the shot and then press it the rest of the way. Does that improve the shot?

Cleaned inside of viewfinder, now AF focus lights gone

Then you learn, when everything works fine, dont mess with it! Have a look at the gold pins that rely the body to the lens. Also check that your lens manual switch focus is engaged... Try a friend lens to see if its your cam or the lens...

When take photos it looks in focus through the viewfinder, but the pictures come out slightly out of focus

I'm not sure what camera you are using. But I believe you are taking pictures like the old Kodak Instamatic which you just literally point and shoot. Even then people took blurred pictures. There are 2 reasons I can guess. First is you are pressing the shutter button too fast. When you press the shutter, it should be like squeezing the trigger of a gun. You SQUEEZE slowly. Not press the button and let go. After you hear the camera has done all the sound it wants to make that means you picture is being recorded. And hopefully it will be clear. If it still isn't then it means your camera take a little bit longer to focus on the subject. That's what happened to my wife. She thinks she can point and shoot and that's it. You need to camera a few seconds to focus. I know the Casio's have a little beeping sound that tells you it has focused and is ready to shoot. My Konica Minolta does the same but I see a box on the screen (I took the sound out). You need to listen for that tone that tells you you camera has focused on a spot and is ready to shoot. In order for the camera to do this you need to press the shutter only half way. When you hear the tone then slowly press all the way and don't move till all the clicks are done. That's usually 0.5-1.5seconds only. Hope this helps.

Veiw finder(eye piece ) out of focus pictures are fine

Use the diopter adjustment to refocus the viewfinder to your eye.

Point the camera at a sign or something with writing on and half press the shutter button to focus then move the little adjuster at the top right of the viewfinder until the image in the veiwfinder is in focus

How many focusing points are there provided in the camera to measure distance to a subject?

Normally the camera measures the distance to the subject using the 3 auto focus frames (left, center and right auto focus frames) in the viewfinder and selects the most appropriate point automatically. You can also select any one of the three points.
