Question about Boating

2 Answers

Hello, I have a 2001 Suzuki 5hp outboard. 2 stroke. It pours gas out of carburator overflow hole. It is a new carb that was put on. problem was the same with original carb. I have cleaned the whole fuel system out and problem still occurs. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Been driving me crazy as to why. Thanks

So your saying that when the motor is attached to yr boat, and in a vertical position, petrol comes out of the overflow hole?I would put a fuel filter in the line before the carbie.clean out the needle valve, and see what happens.check float height while bowl off

Been thinking about your problem and its unlikely to be the carb seeing as tho its new so have a look at the petrol tank there is a vent normally in the filler cap and if it isnt opened or is blocked then its possible the tank could become slightly pressurised if maybe its left in the sun when you go out ,for example ,and that would tend to push petrol into the carb .?

Gas leake from Air vent hose ( rear carburator) Suzuki Marauder VZ800 2002

If you mean that fuel runs out of one of the vent lines, note that one of those lines is for overflow from the carb bowl. If this is what is happening, you might have corrosion or dirt making your float needle stick, and overflow fuel to that carb. It needs to be cleaned out by removing the bowl, float and float needle.

Leaks gas from the carburator.

Hi, Morgan_honda and the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. improper fuel level in the float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.
6. Damaged or leaking float assembly.
7. Particle contamination in inlet fitting cavity.

Gas overflow line coming from carb is pouring out on a 2001 kaw

The float is stuck in the bottom of the carb. Remove the bowl, pull out the float and needle valve, and clean the valve and the hole it sits in.
