Tp43h60 - Televison & Video

Yes indeed. I apologize. I inadvertantly submitted my question without a question!

I have recently obtained a Toshiba TP43H60 rear projection television. It is in working condition and I have been able to perform a complete convergence successfully. The problem I am having is the overall color. The picture is lacking blue and I suspect at the least the set, which has not been used in quite some time, may need to be calibrated for color balance. At the worst, having taken a look through the lens at the tubes, may need a new blue tube. \

I do have blue color, but the overall hue of the picture is orangish on what should be white areas, and normal tint adjustment does not help.

I do have some, dated television repair experience, however not with projection televisions specifically.

I took a look inside and did not see any of the usual service adjustments I am accustomed to finding, so I was not sure if they are accessible via the remote, or a hidden panel somewhere else on the set.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated in attempting to correct this problem, including a service manual if one is available. I have not been able to find one through the sites (paid and free) that I have found other manuals, as for a 37 inch Mitsubishi CRT I have also.

Also on the chance that it does need a new blue gun, I would be interested in the assessment if it would be worth acquiring for this set or not.

    Tha nk you very much!

Thank you very much for the quick response. I downloaded the manual, however it is the user manual which I already have. Do you know a source for the service manual for this set?

Here is the link for the manual you were looking for and for your surprise it is extremely free of cost.

Also, the color tints in pictures (may be orange, blue or whatever else) is a common problem. I don't think simple adjustments would solve the problem. (Anyway you can go through the manual). It usually happens with ageing of picture tubes an simultaneously left unused for quite sometime. So, I strongly believe you will have to replace the picture tube.

As you have asked, a new picture tube in an old T.V isn't economical. As you specified, if you have some experience as a TV repair expert, you might be aware of the fact that newer picture tubes are far worser in quality than older ones! So if you are looking for a replacement, kindly search for a FINELY WORKING picture tube from an old TV, preferably some 10 years old or even older!

    Cheers. Best Regards. Thank You.

Toshiba TP43h60 - Wondering what the dials are for

You are describing the MASTER SCREEN/ FOCUS CONTROL BLOCK---black with six controls--three are red, green and blue focus--the other three are screen controls--red, green and blue--- the screens are adjusted so with the color off you have normal brightness and a black and white picture--

They have nothing to do with any Convergence problem and unless they have been tampered with rarely need to be adjusted---

Let me know if this helps you AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED ADVICE--LET ME KNOW.

I am here to help people.

Toshiba TP43H60 - Unable to adjust colors left/right

Have you tried to adjust in the customer menu or in the TECH menu? I can tell you how to get into the tech menu--if it will not adjust there you have a convergence circuit problem and I can tell you what is needed to repair the set.

I have a TP43H60 toshiba and the power light continues to blink red and there is no picture or sound. I can't turn it off either unless I unplug it??

You have blown one of the pecos fuses, probably the f850 or f852, you can test them with the power unpluggrd and with an ohm meter. Replace them with only the recommended amps fuse. Your set is going into standby, because of the blown fuse.

Toshiba big screen tv. tp43h60

Good Day;

I would suspect the convergence IC's, to confirm this unplug the convergence yoke, all three. If TV comes on IC's are bad. Also, check the little green pico fuses. Good Luck, big IRISH.

TP43H60 component input color issue

From our experience letting customer dance around in the service menus usually they end up with a problem way worse or a dead set. It would be best to check the cables first, After looking in the service manual it appears there are no separate brightness or gain controls for componet but if you still need the service manual I can E-mail it. But once again more sets have been destroyed by a customer just tweaking things a bit in the service menu

You have a bad regulator IC or something in the seweep power supply is blow out. if you can read a schematic, i suggest you get one to troubleshoot the solid state circuits in this TV set. if you do not have any solid state repair experience or no electronic background, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in the repair of this TV set. Good Luck.
