I could not find a knock sensor on the 3.0L 6 cyl engine in my online resource. There were lots of other sensors, though.
If it had one like a GM, then it would be located on the cylinder head or block somewhere.
Does this help?
Testimonial: "Great guy - gave it his best - had to have done a lot of research. Couldn't ask for more from anyone. "
According to parts list, a knock sensor is available for that engine. Have not been able to locate on the block or heads. Shop manuals are absolutely no help. Local garages have no answers either. Odd - shows a part, but no one knows where it goes.
Is this a gas or flex fuel engine?
Gas
OK, I searched on Autozone's site for a 3.0L Ford Taurus from the year 2000 and couldn't find a knock sensor for either the 3.0L EFI DOHC engine or the 3.0L EFI.
I even searched under the Flex Fuel engine but couldn't find one listed.
Which 'parts list' are you looking at, may I ask?
Are you experiencing symptoms that a knock sensor would cause? Such as too much advance?
Don't know if you got my last response - Consistent knock on hard accerleration - bucks bad at 3500 rpm on hard accerleration - tried using high octane fuel - replaced plugs (gapped just right) replaced wires - coil pack - tried octane boosters - put on the computer (no dings) - no check engine light - runs great at crusing speed.
Heading out of the office right now - won't be back for balance of the day - Really appreciate your help.
I got it, but I looked up the part # on the Auto Parts Warehouse and got a connector for the knock sensor, but not the knock sensor itself. I'm suspect about the Auto Parts Warehouse listing of the connector and not the knock sensor.
I also input the 2 valve and 4 valve engine types into the website, and it changed the result to say that the knock sensor plug fit the respective 2 valve or 4 valve engines. Which doesn't look like it fits either one to me.
Sure thing, anytime.

Yeah - it pings bad on hard acceration - tried running high octane gas - tried boosters - installed new coil pack - new wires and plugs (gapped just right) - put it on the computer - no dings - no check engine light - really at my wits end. Starts bucking bad at 3500 rpm on hard accerleration. Will replace cam shaft position sensor - but can't find the knock sensor.
By the way - thanks for your help.
Yeah - Auto Parts Warehouse - Part # MIWPT351
Yep - i don't get it.
Yeah - This pretty much sucks - great car - clean - straight - and runs good up to 3500 rpm. Really appreciate your efforts and your concern.
