Just out of the blue? Did it work recently and just stopped for no reason? You are certain it was working? Does it attempt to scan? Do you hear the parts moving inside when you scan? Do you try to scan with the buttons on the printer, or from software inside of windows? If software, what software is it?

That error means the purge assembly is jammed. Check for paper caught in the right side where the printhead parks, if all clear you will need a new purge assembly. A shop repair for sure....

The scanner lock switch may be in the locked position. Lift the cover and check the slide switch located on the top front left. If this is not the problem, you will have to have a service center look at the problem.

SOURCE: Canon MP830 Error Code 6AOO
The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....
apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.
hope this helps
