Question about Sony MHC-GX40 CD Shelf System

Open Question

My Sony MHC RV900D has problems with audio cutting in and out. Is there anyone with any solutions please? I have checked all external connections etc. Obviously it is not the conections if it plays for a a short while then stops?? Thanks

plug out the dvd and leave it to stand for a day.after the day is out plug it in back if that does not remedy your problem have a tech look at your set.

SOURCE: Protect power keeps coming on - rdx5 MHC

protect usually means a speaker wire problem. remove all connections and redo them making nice tight twists in the connections the spliced end should be no more than 1/4 inch long. make sure to do this for all speakers as well as on the back of the unit.

Do Following...

  • Turn off the System-Turn it off for a while
  • Then turn it back on.
  • Still Problem, Turn Off system and Check the Speaker Code
  • RESET the system .
  • Remove all the connections, leave it for 24hours and then connect it up again
To Reset
  • Unplug Power Code
  • Plug it back again
  • Press Stop , Enter and Power button at Same time
  • Press Power Button to Turn on it

Still have Problem The protective device on the amplifier has been activated because of short circuit. (“PROTECT” and “PUSH POWER” flash alternately.) Turn off the unit, eliminate the short-circuit problem and turn on the power again.

My Sony MHC RV900D plays video uninterrupted but the sound on a DVD or CD starts then plays for a minute or so then no sound for anything from 5mins to a few hours, then sound returns and so forth. ANy ideas please?

Unplug unit from wall socket for few minutes to get it reset, replug back in and turn it On.
Does standby light flashing red?
If yes, that means unit is in protection mode and possible cause would be bad amplifier output chip that should be replaced by technician because unit will take apart in details and soldering work on circuit board is required to replace bad part.

There is most likely a short in the amplifier that will need to be repaired before the unit will power on normally.

How do I connect ipod to sony MHC GX450? can i hook my ipod to my sony mhc-gx450


yes you can connect using rca phone jack to rca jack it depend on what cable you use from your ipod. connect from your ipod audio output to auxillary of sony mhc-gx450.

The System shuts off automatically


System detects power rail irragularities.E.g +5ve the fault is in power supply section.

i have the same problem with the blinking light this problem is due alot to over heating be careful your fan is not burned up or is not being blocked it is a protect mode activation to prevent overheating
