Yes, you won't believe it but it should be a simple fix! It sounds like the tiny holes in the gas cap are blocked with dirt, not allowing airflow through the carburetor. Simply remove the gas cap and poke a small wire into the holes, there by clearing them. Put gas cap back on and get t work...haha!
